Hatch Squeek

Whenever i'm out driving and hit a not so smooth patch of road I hear this squeek. I know its the lock mechanism on the hatch glass. Anyone else have this problem, if so how did you remedy it? I dont have an engine cover, could that be the cause of the squeek?

Yes, basically when i hit a bump in the road the part on the hatch that locks down in the engine bay slaps the bottom of the lock mechanism and makes that squeek type noise. I was thinking about maybe wrapping the lock ring in electrical tape or something of that nature. But i'd like a more permanent fix? Is there anything i should look at that may have come loose?

I have no cover either and no squeak. If you've sprayed some WD40 and it still squeaks, then it's not that part squeaking. Now if you spray it and it goes away for awhile then comes back then yes it may be the latch. If so, try a dab of grease.
