Has anyone used an J series ECU on an c30a? It’s interesting that they have an option where if you going around low speed only 3-4 cylinder are on and when you get on it, all cylinder fires up.

The J swap works when guys blow a stock motor or want a track car or buy a roller ect..and you can get some good power, but to my knowledge nobody is going to mess with a perfectly good Na1/Na2 motor.

It would work if you brought the matching J series engine along with it!

The Honda VCM system not only shuts off fuel and ignition on the de activated cylinders it has a system to un lock the rockers so that the valves on the de activated cylinders remain closed. So the valve mechanism has to be set up for this. The C30 / C32 lack this hardware so cylinder de activation just isn't happening on a C30 / C32 engine.

Some versions of Honda's VCM system do not have a stellar reputation. If you were doing the complete J swap you want to pick your engine carefully unless you were planning to permanently de activate the cylinder deactivation feature.
