I've tried Dawn and water, rubbing alcohol and simple green. None of them worked well enough to get rid of all the spots. Most are at the edges of the mirror which are hard to get to.

What do you use?

probably needs claying, then some good polish, I used griot's 3 level system, it works ok. I've heard of the 3M hand glaze or rather that had good results. But, be careful of polish as it it's taking off your clear/paint.

There ARE products made specifically for getting such crud off glass; nominally windshields, but it should work for mirrors as well. Wish I could give you the product name, but I can't recall it. I saw it on Two Guys Garage, or some other such place. It's out there though.

They make a product that we use on boats that actually destroys water spots called "Just Ducky", costs around $10 for a 32 oz. spray bottle.

Ducky smells amazingly like Lysol Basin, Tub & tile cleaner which costs approx. 1/3 the price, which is what I now use to clean the boat and JetSki after a few days in the very, very hard water at Lake Havasu. It melts the waterspots like butter when mixed in with soap.

Just another helpful hint from HotBoat Magazine!

Griots Garage has a product specifically for difficult water spots. It's a paste that has worked well for me.

Glass Polish

Seems to be quite a few good products out there. Hope it helps.

Use stuff to clean shower doors - they're the same water spots and glass.
I've used CLR (Calcium - Lime - Rust) with very favorable results. Its non abrasive and chemically dissolves just the CALCIUM on the mirrors and nothing else. Doesn't seem to hurt the paint at all, either.
My Integra always parks in the driveway and takes a beating from the lawn sprinklers. We use recycled water here so its not the cleanest water. Gets rid of them all even on the paint and still waxes up great. Doesn't scratch or dull the finish, is pretty quick, easy to use and cheap.
Email me for before and after photos I just took this morning.

I use Zymol on my shower doors!

Just kidding... (although I actually do use it to wax the surface of my snow shovels, to keep the snow from sticking).

i take a mother's polishing ball (the foam one that goes on an electrical drill) then i get it wet, then i squeeze some of the water out, then i sprinkle on "bar keeper's helper" on it, then i push it against my mirror and turn the drill on.

gets the water stains off. downside is the stuff sprays all over the place so wear goggles and you are going to have to wash your car as the final step.

but it works!!!

I got a jar of white powder polish from my local glass/window shop. Works good. Just add some water to make enough paste.
