halfshaft leaking gear oil

i am leaking gear oil from pass side half shaft it appears that bracket bolted to motor is preventing shaft from completly seating about 1/8 in. short.

It is always a bad thing when you are 1/8 in. short!!:biggrin:

If the half shaft is properly mounted to the engine, then it is OK. You just need to replace the seal and the leak should stop. Easy for me to say. Now the work begins.

When you get the short shaft out of the support that attaches to the engine take some emery cloth or very fine sand paper and clean the mating surfaces of the support and the short shaft bearing housing. I even put a light coat of grease on these when I assembly them. It makes them slide together very nice. Don't worry about marking which way they go back together, they will only go one way to align the three bolts. Those smart little engineers did it again!
