Hi,

Something that's been bugging me for ages, hopefully someone will know..

On the GT3 screen, next to the current Gear Selection (in Yellow), there is a smaller red numeric indicator that flashes '+2', '+3' etc when you're nearing the redline and just about to change gear.

What is this for, please?

Thanks
Joe

Thanks - but there's a flashing LED for the change up points as well..

The thing is that even when I'm in 5th gear, it will display '+3' (or something *lower* than the gear I'm in) when I'm approaching the change up point

No biggie, thanks again.

I believe it's the "gear suggester", but maybe they programmed it wrong - always wondered why there wasn't a -2 or something. I think the layout for GT4 is much better

OoooOo Lateral G force meter :)

Yeah, it's the recommended gear to be in for the next turn, it'll start flashing when you're in what the game considers to be the braking zone, and that's the gear it reccomends you be in.

The only time it seems to malfunction is on the second straight on trial mountain, it'll say "3" the whole time on the straight, not sure why. On my TV, it doesn't seem to be a + in front of the number, just a dot.

Off topic: Another malfunction of GT3 is the ability to go 800-900mph on the test course.

900 or 3000 mph? That excessive speeds are not possible with my german GT 3 version (PAL, km/h scale). As I remember I just reach a bit more than 400 km/h with the fastest car or is there a joker car and setup I didn't find?

I think you can achieve the crazier top speeds on the test track with the Pikes Peak Escudo if you tweak the aerodynamics and gearing.

the best car i can think of for top speed is the nissan lemans car (the R90 lm I think) what you need to do is
the softest tires you can get
stiffest spring setting in the front softest in the rear
ZERO toe and camber.
max out all of your LSD settings
put you gear to widest
minimum downforce front maximum downforce rear
all TCS and VCD at its lowest
go backwards on the test course and look at your car go like a motorcycle
