Assuming you're willing to invest in a dedicated GPS device, I've had very positive experience recently with the Magellan RoadMate 700 product (see http://www.magellangps.com/en/products/roadmate.asp ).steveny said:Any suggestions on a portable GPS navigation unit to switch between several cars?
This sounds like a GREAT feature; the Magellan RoadMate does NOT have it, unfortunately.martin said:Does the Magellan have anything like the Checkpoint program?
steveny said:Thanks for all the replies. I sent the link to this thread to Renee to research. The unit will be for her to use between our vehicles. She racks up 1000 miles a week and we need to spread it out over all the vehicles rather than clocking it on just one.

Which portable unit will work as good as a DVD based permanently installed unit like the one found in a Lexus or Nissan (touch screen, voice active).
Contact Prime User "Andy Buzz" out of Tampa FL -- he is a dealer for most popular NAV/GPS systems, both portable and permanently-mounted.steveny said:
Does anyone here on Prime have or know of a reliable source to purchase a unit at a good price?

steveny said:Well she bought the Garmin IQ3600. During the research part I came up with another question.
Is there a all in one unit which would be a cell phone, pda, and a gps navi unit? I found one which is the ipaq H6315, but it only works with t-mobile which is not available out here in the sticks. Does anyone know of a unit that would work with Cingular wireless or Verizon, maybe even at&t?
