GPS/NAV/Scanner Systems/Where to go ?

I know some of you guys have put some compact after market stuff in your cars or know where to find it. I'm investigating doing something like that and would like to look on the net for some ideas & options.

I have know idea where to go since I'm a old guy and not really hip!
