Carefull getting it cut! The material in these keys are much harder than your regular Civic key. (When I got mine, there was a warning sticker on the package w.r.t. cutting the key). Make sure who ever cuts the key for you has the proper equipment.

Hi

I thought I was the only one taking pictures of my key

Here are mine:

It's produced out of 'un-obtanium' ;-)

My local Acura dealer asked for my registration, then took the blank in the back and laser-cut it for free.

I kinda thought that key always went with the car. Mine always have.
I guess if you never had that key then it might be something special to have it.

Am I missing something here? What is the big deal with the key?

Hi

Which of the three keys are the coolest?

I think the "titanium" is the best looking one and it also is heavier which I think is cool :)

IMO, the black head with the red NSX logo.....only cause it matches my car.
I don't like using a heavy key but over time it will contribute to the ignition switch going bad prematurely.

Never heard of such a problem in any car.

If weight were a legitimate concern I doubt this key would have come as standard equipment with the car.

As far as this being the car's standard key is concerned... it seems a lot of first owners 'lost' the primary key, perhaps they also found its construction to be cool?

The weight of that single key will not cause that issue, it's the people who have 5 lbs. of keys or other crap on a keychain attached to it that will have problems.

they said the same thing about the nissan 300zx titanium key too.... As soon as I bought mine I started using it and never had problems.

There is a way around this I think (tape a key to the lock cylinder behind the knee bolster?) and this will fool the system into seeing a correct key and let you start the car with it). Not sure if it works on the NSX, but it does on my GM truck.

unfortunatly if a thiefe happens to look there... and your key is convinently taped in your car... well the rest sucks, and im guessing you guys can put 2 and 2 together. >.<

Please note the word "BEHIND" the knee bolster. Not likely a thief is going to be able to see or reach back there. If you are really concerned about this possible problem, but the shaft off the key or grind down the sides where it will no longer function to open doors/start the car, but will still transmit the code to start the car when the ignition is turned.
