Can anyone guide me as to how or where I can get some paint to match the factory calipers on my 05? Its a gold, I need it to be high heat. My plan is to paint the brackets and hats of the 2-piece rotors from the Racing Brake BBK kit. I do not like the black, I like the way the ones like Project Mu and various other companies have their calipers and hats in matching colors. I also don't want a black bracket attached to the shiny new NSX calipers that are gold.

At first I hated this color, but now it has grown on me. I just don't have any idea where I can get paint to do this with. Any idea? anyone? Can I get away with just taking the hats to a body shop and having them sprayed? or will that paint peel off in no time because of heat? Is this something that should be powdercoated? who does that?

One kit that carries gold as a color is the G2 Caliper Paint kit. You can find the product carried on TireRack.com, I'm sure other vendors carry it as well.

I have no idea if the gold matches the NSX gold, nor do I have any experience with this kit. Just one product to consider.

Thanks Dom, its only $38 so I will give it a shot and see how close it is. If it didn't match I'll just post it up for sale here I am sure someone will want to buy it for some worn out calipers.

i've used hi temp engine paint on my previous supra and M3 and they held up fantastic. picked it up from the parts store. the key is patience and letting each coat cure well and applying at least 3-4 coats.

Hey Des, how long for it to "cure"?

if it's done in a well ventilated and non humid area. i usually let it cure till it's not tacky. but that's usually extreme. most people will tell you they wait a few hours. i just do till it's dry assuming there are no runs etc. That being said my advice is as such:
-Apply thin coats evenly over a prepped surface
-Repeat steps for at least 3 good coats(or more to your liking). the reason for this is durability and chip resistance.
-Clear coat at your discretion(most of these paints won't need clear if they are a glossy paint.

hope that helps Dave
happy motoring.

I used the G2 caliper paint and after 2 years, there has been no peeling or fading. I am very happy with the product.
