Go figure: Auto/electrical service shops don't know what an HID is!

Today, I opened the local yellow pages and called several listings under Automotive/Electrical asking if they could install aftermarket HIDs for my RL - the issue is the tight location to put the ballast on the driver side and have the harnesses reach their proper locations. I even came up with a few brackets but it was more involved than I wanted to spend time and play with. Of those who were open for business (50%, some already were out of business), none new what an HID was

Once I explained it, the reputable ones said if it is not specifically stated that it is California legal, they would not install it. Back to the drawing boards .....

Sheeze Hrant. You should of stopped by this morning I would of put them in for you.

Joe, If I had only known you work on Saturdays too that would have been a breeze

This is a 96 RL. I think I can locate the ballast under the battery tray next to the radiator side - but it's not a flat surface; whereas on the passenger side right behind the lens and in front of the air box there is more room and it sits flat. But to access the driver side, I would need to take the battery/tray out, perhaps even the windshield washer bottle mount. The alternative is to mount it on the fender behind the cruise contol motor and hope the wiring will reach. Then the issue is to trace and snake all the wiring parallel to the OEM harness ....... I already have enough burns and scratches on both hands from trying; now I am happy to pay someone who doesn't care about their manicure
