We took the NSX out for a few laps before we leave for Vegas in the coming weeks.

The car was running consistent 1:42's at Gingerman on the new configuration.

The lightshow from the car for the last two laps was amazing. It was like fireworks before every corner! :) The brakes worked flawlessly throughout the evening fyi...Hawk Blues on a full StopTech kit.

Spring Mountain, here we come!

Make sure to bring a spare set of rotors, you don't want to be stuck at Spring Mountain SOL with no brakes left. Hawk Blues EAT rotors for lunch. They tend to spark like that when they don't have enough constant heat in the rotor itself which will result in greatly increased rotor wear. Once hot they're fine but are still a lot more abrasive on the rotor than most race pads.

The DTC line is a lot better in terms of pad wear and are more common at higher level motorsports. You could also try Performance Friction 01, 06 (similar to 01 but improved wear) or the very high bite 07 pads.

0.02 -see you at SMMP!

Thanks for the advice Billy.

The ambient temperature was around 45 degrees so this may explain your rotor temperature statement. Turbo's sure like the cold temperatures, even if other aspects of the car suffer slightly. :)
How do your rotors look now?

I still would highly suggest possibly a different pad if you aren't going to get another full set of rotors for SMMP.

Rotors are great! No cracking or significant grooves...yet. I have three track days on them, this most recent of which was only about 20 laps due to failing light.

I ran blues on the old shop car and got three years out of them before any significant cracking or grooves developed. I'm not sure if Brian has replaced the rotors yet or not....

I've seen those on eBay, you should get Blue ones next time! LED Wheel lights FTW!

EDIT: haha, I just found these on the IS forums!

No changes to the old shop car brakes Cody, there is a small amount of checking on the Stoptech front rotors (um yeah, they've been hot before ) and the hats look perfect.
Since the car is in 'retirement' with us, it has had very little tracking or sustained hard use.
As a corner worker, you can bet we would be calling that light show in to race control
