Gear Noise Really less in 94+

In doing my research on prospective NSX, I see that in 94 they show: "Gear cut method changed to reduce gear noise".

Can anyone comment on whether there is any real difference in gear noise? Lots of nice 91-92's out there and hate to pass on them.

I can not say I recall the gears in my 91 making any excessive noise, and it is not something I can say I notice a difference in between it and my 97 and 98 models.
You obviously should remember the snap ring issue on the early cars, but other than that I would not worry about the gearbox.

The gears in my '91 are not excessively noisy. For the most part, my '91 NSX is extremely quiet (except for my exhaust ). My '00 S2000 makes a lot more mechanical noise (clutch buzz, etc.).

My 91 did some quiet gear noise mainly due to the 4.06 final. After short gears and 4.23 the car runs quieter. But gear noise is not very important anyway as the engine is much louder at wot. :)
