I recently took out my gauge cluster to see if I can fix my tripmeter and put it back in all the other lights work but the speedo and tach.... anyone have this happen before??? I'm going to buy new bulbs but both plugs are in and locked..

Same thing here, the middle light isn't working but I think it is because the top light isn't on.

I bought all new bulbs for the back of the cluster and no change is there other lights I'm missing? There is one strip on the top of the cluster that has lines down to the back of the center main bulb..

That's the one not lighting up on mine. Need to take it apart again.

It's been a while since I've torn a NSX cluster apart, but know that there are a lot of things that can go wrong when you do.

I have swapped out gauges, changed out lighting, and have tried pulling needles. One thing that I found is that all the screws act like grounds and can cause problems if they are not seated properly. Considering how far you got in there, it is a real possibility. You may just want to try working backwords and see if there is anything that looks like it might not be seated the way it should be.

Speedo and Tech guage are illuminated by the orange wavy strip on the top of the cluster. Just look underneath the top of the cluster and you should see it. If it is not illuminated, that is your problem. You will have to replace the bulb there. Unfortunately, the dealer does not sell this bulb seperately.

There are two bulbs that attach to Part #19 that illuminate that yellow strip.

I was able to replace the bulb with one from NAPA auto parts, but it burned out in less than 3 days.

make sure you check the dimmer switch assembly as the connector soldering to the main board can crack during cluster removals.

Well with holding the plug in the dimmer switch one way the gauges light up and the headlights will close when turned off.. I get all back together, night hits and I find the needles now don't light up....

I'm assuming this is the dimmer switch causing all my problems.

you got it- the dimmer switch has a little circuit board inside its 'box' and the connector housing is soldered onto it. basicallly that connection gets compromised (usually by 'rough' disassembly) and while it can be repaired (if you can find the break point) i would suggest replacing it- i had exactly the same issue/symptoms. glad you were able to pinpoint the problem, nothing is more aggrevating than electrical glitches.
take care.

Lol. I've had this issue sine my last disassembly of the gauge cluster a few years back.

I think it's the same top light shown in this post, correct?

Can you guys shown me where this dimmer switch is and what I need to fix it?

I've been driving mostly during the day so I have been able to procrastinate this long. Electronics disassembly is the most annoying thing in the world.
