I have a 91 and recently averaged 28.5 mpg on a trip from Edmonton to Calgary to Banff back to Edmonton driving at a pretty good speed (140 to 150 KPH). I frequently get better than 30 mpg when I drive closer to the speed limit.
I fill about 55 bucks on supreme plus at chevron, and i get about 450kms, on average, its weird but right now i have been driving regularly the whole week and my gas is just under half a tank with 315kms.. i wonder if i will hit 550?
I'm over in the UK, my 2000 3.2 is my daily drive so gets varied usage, from motorways to backroads. On average I get 350 miles to a tank, although I leant it to my dad the other week and he managed to get 480 miles out of a tank with the light only just coming on - proof that it can average very good mpg if driven sensibly!
Alos with petrol price rocketing over here it is geting harder to afford a tankfull! I filled up yesterday and it cost me the equivalent of $125...scary !
I bought my car in DC and drove it to Toronto. We went almost 520 miles on one tank! Cruise Control made a BIG difference, when I drove just days later to visit a friend 45 mins away by highway I used tonnes more gas - but drove in 5th and 6th with no cruise, targa off, hands causing drag out the windows - more fun, more money!
Much better gas mileage with the 3.0 than the 3.2 according to many on this site. Not sure why, as the displacement difference is very small.
Do a search, it has been covered many times.
Maintenance does make a difference. I changed my old dirty K&N cone for a new Comptech hi flow box and OEM filter, and my highway miles went from 26 to 30mpg.
Yeah I get about 300km's per tank, 70% of that is highway driving. Of course, I drive to have fun, not to conserve gas. On long highway trips in 5th with cruise I've gotten well over 500km's.
Just got back from Watkins Glen (Where we won!!!!!) and the drive of 4 hours took about 5/8 of a tank. Cruise control was needed since I didn't use cruise on the way there and got a speeding ticket in NY State just outside of the Glen.
He clocked me at 90 in a 55 (I was passing another car) but wrote me at 71 - which still sucks. Anyone know how to lower/kill a ticket in NY State?
I'm suprised you guys are getting 250km at tank... On a drive from LA to San Fran I broke 400 miles on one tank.
I regularly break 300 miles with normal driving and still break 250 with agressive driving. I've never had a track day but maybe I'd be under 200 or less but street and highway usually gets me 300-320 miles per tank.
I've got RM Intake, Ark V1 Exhaust, running Esso 91 Octane. I find City I get abour 360~430kms Per tank and a few times straight HWY I've gotten 450~580kms 5th gear crusing 120km/h~140km/h when the Empty light starts to come on I sure I could stretch it out to 600kms easy. I would imagine when I get around to putting my Comptech headers on it will change as well. I get way better gas mileage than my friends Skyline RB20 he gets about 200~250kms out of a 60liter tank. I wind up stoping once for every 2 times he stops!
When I drove back from Calgary to Victoria, i went 450 kilometers on 36 liters of 91 octane. This was with an average speed on 140kph on the highway, on a brand new K&N panel filter. This is actually better mileage then I get with my turbo RSX Type S
