You mean the FM transmitter? have you tried the XM? If you were to just do volume using the 3.5" mini jack, how hard it is to control volume? what is involved? Is it stupid to think this can replace my factory system completely (with amps and speakers)?

Yes, sorry the FM transmitter is a nice feature, but I found the sound quality was a bit low and it seem to not have enough power to send to my stereo 1 foot away... I have not bought the XM only because I don't drive very much and it would be a waste for me to subscribe. I do use the mini jack to feed my stereo amp. That works great. Its not hard to control the volume, but you either have to use the touch screen or the remote, a little hard to do while you are driving. so I just reach down to the JDM switch area where my knob is and adjust from there. I suppose you can do the same if you run the XM. Since car volumes don't stay the same, that's why I wanted something I can turn up and down on the fly!!

Looks like the SD and USB slots are on the side... how are you accessing those while its in the navpod?

Also how does that navpod blend? its black trim and your console is silver.

Will it be possible to load the annual Garmin update into the 7500 after you have it mounted?

The SD card and all that stuff is hidden within the pod, but all I do to reprogram or install custom POI's is to remove the pod from the dash (really easy if you know how its mounted, not so easy if you don't!) and plug in the USB cable from the laptop! the USB jack is easy to get too.
As far as the audio cable, it comes right out. The SD card should never have to be removed, but if it does, just take the unit out of the pod! But how often do you need to reprogram ? I can take it out, reprogram and reinstall in probably 15 minutes.. OK, 1/2 hour......
