Here are some pictures of the new home I've built for my NSX. The floor paint is Griot's Garage epoxy system and it worked well. The ceiling lighting has gone from 300 watts to 3 kilowatts of light - a huge improvement. Note the soft yellow door pad I won at an NSXCA meet in Ohio years ago, one of the best accessories I own.

Here is the before picture. Note damage from water leaking thru wall and individual light bulbs overhead.

one more

Here is one more pic looking at the other bay. Notice the combined heating/air conditioner unit installed thru the wall - 12,000 Btu's to keep the space comfortable year round. Also the air supply system at the top which has taps for filtered air (tires, dusting etc.) plus filtered and lubricated air for tools.

Damn awesome garage man..

nice improvement .....

question...is that X a canadian model or did you put the daytime running lights on it...

i like the Honda conversion...

NSX eh?

My 1991 coupe with 150,000 Km was bought by myself in Toronto Canada at Downtown Acura who gave me excellent service. I bought the Honda badges thru a dealer in Belgium. This was a decade before Dali and other closer-to-home solutions were available!

Nice! Is this a real Ferrari F1 nose on the wall.

If yes, it is surely worth 10-15K $ !!!

I would add some Honda, Mc Laren and Williams stuff on the walls!

Why not the Honda powered Williams and Mc Laren? :D

F1 Memorabilia

McLaren and Williams pieces are extremely hard to find as they destroy most items to prevent them falling into the hands of their competitors. I do have the in-car camera from Damon Hill's Williams. I have other nosecones from Jordan (2), Leyton House, Stewart and Lotus. The Lotus nose is off of Ayrton Senna's car at the Spanish GP in 1985 where he won his first race. I think of it as my retirement plan :--). I have several rear wings, sidepods, steering wheels and other items located throughout my home. Not a real female-friendly environment!

Wow! Soichiro you're a real F1 fan and you are very lucky to own such unique pieces.

I am sure that, like me ( I must confess it! ) you would like very much to own a vintage Formula One and track it just for fun.

But I wouldn't like to have a too old one ( read pre 1988 F1 ) and I find very nice the 1988-1991 Honda Mc Laren.

Not to forget the fantastic FW14.

I had the chance to see vrom very close Villeneuve's FW18.

Where will we party?

My dear friend Mr. Honda, that is truly impressive. Now, we'll have to move our socials inside to keep from trashing your garage! It is now the nicest room at your house, eh? As it should be, of course...

It looks like you have had some water problems in the past by looking at the lower portion of your wall. Hopefully you used DryBlock to save the interior surface.

DIY Instructions

To prevent future leaks I did the following:
- used Dry Lok hydraulic cement to seal the floor/wall seam
- used Dry Lok waterproofing compound on wall up to grade
- Block Filler on wall above grade
- Two coats interior latex semi-gloss white
- Clear coat (just kidding)

The floor was intimidating at first, but it's just manual labor. You will need a helper for the etching step. Download the .pdf instructions from Griot's for full details.
- check for hydrostatic pressure in your floor (easy)
- empty garage
- use paint stripper on painted spots, old duct tape on floor etc.
- acid etch the floor by scrubbing diluted muriatic acid into the concrete.
- pressure wash the acid residue with ammonia (I could not find this anywhere and used TSP instead)
- Two coats of epoxy paint
