I drove a Gallardo today. One of my cigar customer just acquired a 2005 Gallardo cpe, and he let me take it out for spin:

It was a religious experience.

Interior:
NSX is better, the Gallardo's dash is too high, and the visibility is very limited. In my opion, the Gallardo is not quite as roomy as the NSX, but does have more head room. NSX is a little more comfortable, the seats are better.

Drivetrain: Gallardo wins flat out, the 500 HP with lot more torque is just flat out scary, the car accelerate with zero hasitation, except when I take off, the peddle shift clutch took a little effort to engage, but once it's in, the power was hard to control!!! Couple of hard acceleration... I thought I was loosing control, and I had to shift before redline because the needle move so freakin' fast. NSX feel close to it, but only after VTEC kick in, but again, close, but no cigars. I can't wait to compare the two after I get my CTSC.

Transmission: Can't really compare them, the Gallardo uses peddle shift, but it was a littl weird for me. Too bad the shift doesn't turn with the steering wheel. The shifting is smooth, and I really enjoy using it once I figure out how to use it.

Suspension/Chassis: The car is stiff, really stiff, and the suspension is also hard. I felt every part of the road when I drove the car, and the stiffness was acutally a little scary. Reminded me of early S2K. The NSX is more forgiven, with softer suspension. I will have to wait for the NSX R suspension before I can really compare the two.

That was my first every experience with an Italian Exotic, it was fun, and it was scary. 500 horse is ... wow...

Sounds like a fun ride. I really want to go drive one myself but I am afraid I might buy it if I do.

Is Tebbers offers one to you for 1/2 price don't send him any money! :)

Sounds like you had a blast test driving one. I myself would like to test drive one . Thanks for the comparison, I've always wonder about Lambo's and how they drive. Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford one.

i guess we're quite gay now, after some fun w/ the Gallardo!

Oh man, that's a given! Afterall, it's an Audi'esque Lambo... I def' see you owning a Bentley too, perhaps when you tire of the Phaeton!

A few weeks ago, I saw a F430 Challenge_Stradale around towne. I'm going to inquire further locally, see who owns it (it's a small city, so to speak). I'm keen on gettin up-close & personal w/ that prancin' horsie, someday would love to be in a Challenge_Stradale, whether 360 or 430.

430 cs not being made yet...not sure what you saw. maybe a 430 challenge but those are track only.

challenging, indeed.

:: eek :: That's what I meant: F430 Challenge. At first I was perplexed too. But when I got home, I researched it further (wheels, spoilers/diffusers, seats, etc') it was indeed a F430 Challenge. It's funny, what originally made me notice it was the sound... wicked!

This car is everything the NSX used to be, until the bar was raised in today's standard. The car is civilized, easy to drive (other than scary fast), and according to my customer, the car comes with Audi free maintanace through the warrentee period.

Dude, it's was wild.

Actually I've seen quite a few NSX owners move onto the Gallardo as their next car...seems pretty logical. Other trend I've noticed in this car world is this: Alot of the Rx-7 folks move onto S2000's, alot of the S2000 guys move onto NSX, alot of the NSX guys move onto Gallardo..I prefer the Murcielago alot more, but the Gallardo is still ok in my book:biggrin:

I've seen quite a few of the Supra/corvette guys go over to the Viper, the Viper guys onto a Ford GT.

Any plans on purchasing a Gallardo?

The Gallardo seems sweet, in my limited encounters with one..

So it is not gale-are dough?

nope, it's def "gay-are-dough"...... i think the murcielago looks waay better..... and for the same price, an F430 would do much more nicely

l-4-y...

That "L's" are silent, ala' Mallorca -> My-Orca

Gallardo means elegant/graceful/striking in Espanol. But, more directly it's named after a breed of fighting bulls.

Miura is a Spanish Ranch, whose bulls have a proverbial attack instinct.

Countach is a profane expletive of astonishment/shock in local Piedmontese dialect.

Jalpa came from a famous breed of fighting bulls.

Diablo, of-course is devil.

Murcielago is bat, but more directly the reference is geared (no pun intended!) towards a championship bull that awed the masses w/ it's profilic performance against an acclaimed matador thereby being spared & siring a particular lineage of championship bulls.

I guess it's relative to which side of the pond. My cousins in the UK pronounce it guy-r-doe whereas in US, gay-are-dough seems to be the norm'. Two sides of the same coin!

Wow, NSX looks like a toy next to the murci and 911. Its amazing how low our cars sit.

I remember driving the gallardo. The car was the ultimate traffic stopper. I mean you could walk the streets naked, and still you would not get as much attention compared to driving a gallardo, or any lambo for that matter. Driving with the F1 gearbox, is like driving stick for the very first time. You have to step on the accelerator just right to accelerate smoothly. My friend, who owned the car had an customized exhaust, with test pipes, and the sound was just out of this world..As aggressive as the bull on the bonnet. The interior is definitely Audi-esque. The car accelerated like a bullet train on nitrous, but you really wouldn't know how fast you were accelerating unless you watched the speedometer. You know the car is fast, but it doesn't feel fast. Power delivery is very smooth, so smooth in fact, that it sorta numbs the driving experience. I'm sure that the 6 speed is more rewarding in terms of thrill. Oh, and the in-car button to raise the height of the car for going up drive ways and speed bumps was really cool.
