Looking at starting a new job in the near future with a nice signing bonus. I'm going to be looking for a low mile NA1 coupe. Buying the car won't be a problem but the funds spent on the power/modding "itch" after the fact might kill me. I was just wondering about how much other owners have spent AFTER the cost of the car itself. This includes exterior and interior mods as well as performance mods. Do not include maintenance or repairs.

That's a very vague and general question to ask. I don't think you will find a "right" answer.

Modding a vehicle is like personifying the car to your likings. It all depends on what each person is aiming for (what look, what style, what purpose). There are those of us that want a nice, able to be daily driven yet be different then there are those of us that are into track events, making sure the vehicle is absolutely balanced in power and handling. Then you can't forget those that are into showing/competing with the vehicle (car shows, trade shows, company vehicle) and of course those that are after true or replica NSX-R look (that's a HUGE difference in budget).

So it all depends on YOU and not how much I spend or how much the next guy spends. Hell, some people are more than content having a stock NSX so they would spend nothing in mods.

I know this. I was just wondering how much other people have found themselves spending on their cars. To make it how they want. That's why I put so many different ranges on the poll.

I voted on the last choice.....you will see quite a few owners in that range. (30K+) Some of the guys here are in the 100k+ range.

It does seem like it's either "Go big or go home". With the majority either doing very minor mods or going all out. I guess we'll see with more votes.

Give the NSX an oatmeal wash, it will keep the modding itch down. (just like when you have chickenpox).

Get the NSX, and modify when toy funds are available. You may want t get use to the car before any modifications (also buys you some time to save up for the toy fund). Good luck.

let me be the voice of reason and caution,If you are young, and your sign on bonus allows you to pay for a used nsx,but your regular pay is such that it won't allow for extra $ being thrown at the car, then I would wait awhile and see if you might need that bonus money for something else, like a home/school dept,cc dept ect.

It's a 20k bonus. While in training I'll be making about 32k a year but after a few years I should be above 70-80k.

I have to agree with some of the posts that a NA1 with headers, exhaust, and wheels is the way to go. You'll love the car.

Jetpilot

IMO an NA1 with headers & exhaust and perhaps wheels is close to perfect.

+1  Exactly what I have.

I do plan on adding bilsteins on lower perch eventually to reduce some wheel well gap

After driving with eibach springs, Koni's & sway bars, there is no way I could ever be happy with the stock susp..............

Many early cars have minor mod's, why not just buy one with a few of the mods you like? Usually you will not have to pay much if anything over a stock example.

With traffic laws being strict and of course the expense it is easier to keep my NSX stock. But don't get me wrong I would love to have CTSC for sure!
