hey folks,

i was searching around this morning for some alignment info and found Marc's PDF version of the 1991 nsx shop manual in the faq section.

since it was also a slow day at work, i converted it to html and stuffed it into a full-text / boolean searchable database with a dumb little web gui around it. it's pretty basic, but it seems easier to me than fumbling around with a 60MB PDF file. :-)

the url for it is nsx online shop manual , any comments are welcome and i hope some of you find it useful!

cheers,

-mike

Very nice

mikeh: Very nice, and thanks! Hopefully Lud will edit the FAQ's to include this URL.

Mike, that is so cool!

Thanks for the support guys.

Ojas, thank you!! I had been planning to sit down and do a table of contents today, but I'm working on another project and haven't had the time. This helps greatly! PM me your name/email and I'll add a credit/thankyou to the site. :-)

PS: If anyone has a newer model and/or different shop manual, it's very easy for me to import it. I just need it in pdf, or some other common graphic/text format.

Cheers,

-mike

Yes, the 95 would be a targa, so that would be one obvious difference. I am certain that there are multiple other changes from the years also. I would like to see a NA2 manual on there!

Did someone say NA2 manual? How about all years service electrical, and body manuals. Contact me.

MikeH & Ojas-
Thanks for the work. I went to the book and played around and found what I was looking for easily. Very cool of you.

This is AWESOME..

Thanks for the effort..

Can I ask what software you used to accomplish this?

I used a unix command line program to convert the PDF into html.

Then wrote a little perl script to parse the html into the format I wanted and then include the background image of the pdf page (so the text would be rendered on top of the diagrams if they existed).

Next, I wrote a script that stuffed the html into a mysql full-text searchable table.

Then created a simple PHP gui front-end to that database, and used an old boolean-search API I used for another project to extend the search functionality.

Finally, I cut&pasted the Table of Contents Ojas created into the index page..and viola.

All told, it took me about 3 hours of work from the time I downloaded the PDF file from nsxprime until I posted the URL here.

Wow That's nice. I hope that URL never becomes a dead link.
