Folks-

Is it just me, or do all of you get about 33 mpg on the highway (driving conservatively)? I couldn't believe it!!! Can we please do a poll on what others get for mpg?

Thanks-

Nev

My 92 white, stocks NSX only can run 24 mpg on freeway with some uphill and downhill in california. 90% of time was driving 75 yo 85 mph, about 10% of time was over 90 mph. I guess my gas mileage will improve a little after I tune up my car...spark plugs and feul filter are too old...

with daily driving, i actually did some calculations for local versus freeway.

local: about 18-20 mpg

freeway (no stops, few brakes): about 26-27mpg

over 30mpg is amazing!! does cruise control help?

Wow, 33 is outstanding. It makes me wonder though.
Does New jersey have awesome gas?
Is your car running too lean and soon you will burn valves?
Have you checked the accuracy of your odometer?
Do you mean 33 kilometers per gallon? (which is about 20 mile per gallon).
Or are you just lucky and have the most efficient running NSX in the world?

Here is what I posted in another topic

Last year I took a trip to my parents house in Oregon. I drove via cruise control on I5 from Sacramento to Salem Oregon & back. I maintained a 76 mph in CA and a 67 mph in Oregon. I have a '92 wht/blk (5 speed). I was in 5th gear for 99.9% of the trip. On Sacramento gas, I got 24.5 mpg from Sacto to Yreka (or was it Dunsmuir). With gas from very Northern CA and Oregon, I got 28 to 28.5 mpg the rest of the trip. My conclusion is the MTBE (and/or other oxygenates) required in the high density population areas of CA (i.e. Sacto et al) decreases the freeway gas mileage by about 20%. Granted, it is a limited experiment, but these are my honest results. I hope this info helps.

I look forward to reading your answers to my questions.

33 mpg sounds awfully high to me, even for a stock NSX. I wonder whether you got that on several successive tanks - so that the measurement can be considered accurate? Or, perhaps you didn't fill it all the way on the end of that particular tank?

Here's what I typically get on my almost-totally-stock '91 5-speed:

27-29 mpg on a long trip (no stops)
18-24 mpg with the usual mix of city and highway driving
9-11 mpg on the track

The mileage depends on the average speed. I think with cruise control over a long period, at 60mph that 33 mpg is very attainable.

heck....with a mpg of 33, I take the NSX to work instead of the Toyota Matrix I bought for commuting purposes.....

then again, I would've racked up an additional 16k on the X in the past 10 months if it wasn't for my Matrix...

I know...I should take it to work more often since I work 8 miles away from home.....am I too protective??? :)

Hmmm.....Taking it easy driving in the city here, I get roughly 16.3-16.5 mpg. Maybe it is because of my DALI ECU or something....I get HORRIBLE gas mileage, and I have fresh plugs. Hmmmm....

23 mpg no matter how I drive. Usually a combo, in town/ highway with plenty of "spirited" driving while doing the highway/ empty road part. Mine is a 3.2 '99 with a six speed.

If that were true, then someone here would have gotten it on several tankfuls, not just a single tank where the figure is questionable. I have yet to hear such a report.

Folks-

Well, I just had my timing belt/water pump and valves adjusted by "Bernie" at Davis Acura, so I feel that the engine is not too lean. I am at 1/2 tank now and the odometer shows 225 miles. BUT, I have been driving highway and rarely over 65. Stock everything.

Will keep you all posted.

33 mile to the gallon translates to 14 km per liter with US gallons (3.7854 liter) or 11.7 km per liters if you using UK gallons (4.5461 liters).

I defintely never even come close to that.
On average I will do 18.82 miles per US gallon or 8km per liter.
The highest I ever got was 22.70 miles to the (US) gallon. And it has been my habbit to write down all stats (litres put in, price, mileage and total milage) on every tankstop for years.

I have, on more than one occasion, attained 30mpg at 70mph on the highway with cruise. I rarely drive this far so its tough to say if it would happen every time. My car is bone stock except for springs.

30, maybe. But 33?

if i've read the topic correctly, it's fuel economy.....and taking the cost aspect of it, i say....

with various gas prices around the world, we might all just be equal....so no sweat about who gets 33mpg and who gets 20mpg

some may pay $1.70/gal whiles others pay up to $2.40/gal in San Francisco.

furthermore, with various driving habits and unpredictable routes, mpg will jump all over the place....besides, i'm a redliner every time i drive it so thinking about mpg will take the fun out of driving the X!!

Wish that was true.... It's more like $4.65/gal where I live (unfortunately) ;)

ah, yes. asia and europe go by liters, but you guys get the top notch gas like 95 and up. we used to have 92 or still have in some places. now in my area, the premium is up at 91 only.

So far I'm seeing about 20-22 MPG with about 60% city and 40% highway. I do have the NSX-R gears (Short gears and 4.235 R&P) though. I use 92 octane gas. I hit VTEC range only a coupe times each drive.
