Hi.

It appears that the spring from my fuel door is missing. Well, I think it's missing cuz I can't locate a spring on the door, nor in the fuel filler area.

Where's the spring? Anyone able to take a digipic of it?

Anyone repair their own spring?

Thanks,
Michael

Mike, it's not so much an actual spring as it is a pretty damn small spring-steel clip... I have noticed in the past that mine slides down sometimes... As I recall it's only about 1/2" square. Are you sure it hasn't just slid down?

It's a piece of junk anyway - I replaced mine with a new one & it still doesn't work worth a damn. Worst piece of "design" (& I use the term loosely in this case) on the whole car.

Already done that - the "spring" is really poor - if you take even a brand new one & compress it between your fingers it will stay "set". It's just not strong enough for the job.

Here's a suggestion. Get out a hot glue gun, and squirt a goodly amount of hot glue into the fold in the spring. It strengthens the spring nicely, and provides springiness itself. Worked for me, and it's quick and easy. Here's a pic.

Ahem - yes, I see, there is a brief moment, after you open the gas door, while you're unscrewing the gas cap, before you actually insert the nozzle, when a strategically located onlooker might actually catch a glimplse of that 1/2" bit of white there...

Turns out I happen to have some black hot glue. It came with one of those Dent Popper contraptions "as seen on TV". You squirt the hot glue on the dent, stick on a plastic puller thing, and then yank it with the contraption. It pulls the dent out, and the hot glue lets go with a loud pop. It sorta worked on my daily driver (but I'd never use it on my NSX!). You're right, I should have used it here.

If you PM me your address, I'll send you an inch ;)
