I have for sale a 1991 Acura NSX 5-spd gearbox (manual transmission) that has 46,500 miles on it, out of "snap ring" range, and in excellent condition!
I plan to remove the 5-spd transmission and clutch from my car in February 2003 and replace it with a new 6-spd transmission. Both the 5-spd transmission and clutch are still in the car. I will not be able to remove the transmission before then, but this would allow the BUYER to pay for an inspection of the 5-spd transmission at one of the local dealers if they so choose. As another option there are a lot of NSX enthusiasts in the Houston area. I would be willing to allow the future buyer to have someone in the Houston area to meet up with me to inspect the transmission.
I take very good care of my car and have all the regular scheduled services performed at the Acura dealer. Last service was the 60,000 mile service. The gearbox oil was changed about a year ago (within the last 5,500 miles). I have never had a problem with the transmission. It has always been a short travel and tight shifting gearbox. There is not any rattling of lack of synchronization when shifting.
I am NOT including the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) nor the two "switches" (back up light and neutral position switch). You can use those from your current gearbox.
Also included in this sale is the clutch assembly that will come out of the car with this gearbox. It will include the disks, pressure plate assemblies and the throw out bearing. I do not know how warn the clutch is b/c it is still in the car so I have not seen it. I also do not have pictures for the same reason. What I do know is that this clutch is the factory twin disk clutch. The previous owner had this clutch installed in 95 when the car had 26,000 miles on it (I have the receipt from the previous owner that has the date and milage of the car when it was installed).
This gearbox is an excellent candidate for those of you with high mileage NSX's with the syncros starting to falter, or for those of you with cars in the "snap ring" range. This is also an excellent "donor" gearbox for installing the JDM (Japanese spec) short gears, and/or R&P since the miles are fairly low.
I am asking $2,000 + shipping for both the 5-spd gearbox and factory twin disk clutch.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected]
