Hello All, just wondering if anyone has a body shop manual explaining the removal and replacement of the front bumper skirt. I am having mine replaced and would like to have the correct procedure to go by rather that just going at it and messing up something or damaging fasteners if done improperly. Please let me know where I can find this information. Thank you, Paul

Thanks guys, sounds simple enough. I couldn't find any schematics that were detailed enough to show how many fasteners and where they were, so I appreciate the information.

when you remove all the bolts. if it doesnt slide off easy then ther is one more you missed.

it literally slides off with little to no effort when all the bolts are out.

Are you saying it slides straight out the front? That would be the only direction I could see it sliding unless it slides down away from the bumper itself. Please clarify if you would and thank you for the additional input.

Better than thousand words

Hi Don, you can buy just the skirt from Delray Acura for $326.72. I assume shipping would be addtional and then it will need to be painted your car color. I had a minor incident with a small deer a few years back which knocked my skirt ascew but did very minor damage to the vertical supports that connect the center bar. I got it refitted in place and all was well until I accidentally touched a very rough curb last week. This scratched my skirt and spoiler lip pretty bad so I decided to have it repaired correctly and replace the skirt and spoiler lip. Total bill to buy the parts at full retail or near $700 for those two parts, paint and R & R the parts is $950. Of that price, a large hunk of money is actually painting the skirt as that calls for 2.5 hours just for the painting. Labor time to change the parts is only .7 hours. If you can do the paint yourself, you are looking at that $326.72 figure for the skirt and change it yourself as it sounds pretty easy to do from the previous posts.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Question to Shawn, Ken and anyone else with first hand knowledge. It sounds as though you have done this procedure before. I was looking at mine tonight and I found six screws visible from the front with two in each side opening and two on each side of the center. Where are the other seven and how do you get to them? I thought I could see a small screw head right at the front of the wheel wells where the skirt meets the bumper. For the life of me, I couldn't see any way to get to it unless you take out the wheel well liner. If you two could expound a little on the procedure, it would be appreciated. Also, as I was trying to find these, I was moving the right side under piece around some as though it wasn't attached to anything. Could this have been installed incorrectly when I had this worked on to reaffix things the first time? It just didn't seem quite right to me. Perhaps if the car was on a hoist and up in the air a little, some of these other fasteners would be visible. Please let me know. Thank you again.

UPDATE!! Ok, the repair is done and for any else's information that might want to know the same thing, here is the scoop. The front bumper assembly comes off in it's entirety without much trouble. Disconnect a little wiring, a hose and remove the appropriate bolts and off it comes complete. The bumper skirt is then removed from the main front bumper which is the upper part. The spoiler lip is also removed and reattached to the new bumper skirt. That part could have been done without removing the bumper assembly, but the skirt, which is the lower piece below the main bumper, can only be removed by first removing the bumper assembly. Hope this helps someone else in the future and thank you to the Prime members that weighed in although some didn't fully understand my question it appears. Regardless, I appreciate the input. Thanks Prime!

I guess I misunderstood your question. When you mentioned "skirt", I assumed you were talking about the chin spoiler.

Many people call the part you are referring to as the bottom half of the front bumper or lower half bumper.

Yes to install the lower half bumper, it does make it easier to remove the entire front bumper assembly. But you already figured that out yourself
