How many inches off the ground is your lower front bumper/lip? What's a safe height to avoid excessive scrapping when daily driving?

It all depends. Some are still on stock height while others are really 3 or 4 inches off the ground.
I have bilsteins on upper perch and tanabe springs and it's fine for my roads I drive on. I'm just real careful.
I'd go lower but my driveway is steep. I build a ramp to get up it but I still scrape

The NSX is quite low to begin with. The stock height of the lip on my 02+ lip is about 5.5". Right now I'm at ~3.75" off the ground with my coilovers which is really too low. They were installed too low by accident and I just haven't gotten around to correcting it. I plan on raising that by about .25-.375" at some point. I scrape on high speedbumps and medium dips. I think just a little more height will drastically reduce the scraping. I'm right there on the edge at 3.75".
With Bilsteins on the lower perch the height should be around 4.75" or so which is pretty good for daily driving. You'll clear all speedbumps and most road dips.
Driveways are a different story. Even stock height NSXs have can trouble on certain driveways since, as I mentioned, even the NSX stock height is still relatively low. I had to custom grade my driveway even before the current height and would still have needed to even after I raise it to 4.0"+.
Im closer to the 3" mark I scrape all the time.The front lip is a disposable item.1 a year.
Only you can answer this question based on your roads/region.Some owners have slammed cars and don't complain,others have removed the plastic lip altogether.Some folks have to negotiate speed bumps and driveway inclines,some don't .Those who daily drive and don't have another car have a different perspective than those who have 2 or more cars to choose from.
Also, TEACH YOUR WIFE OR GF -if she EVER drives- to park FAR from the parking barriers ,,, my S2k after 2 years with lip and 0 scraps came back with a BLOWN lip b/c she just went all the way in ... then went went reverse ... just to think pisses me off

Yes, also very true. NSX owners should basically consider the front lip a wear item. An new one every year or two for me.
Exactly. I'm riding on bilstiens on stock springs and still have trouble at times. Thats why I've never opted for a nice carbon lip.:frown: I wish the stock lip would drop in price though.

Mine car came with the Westwing lower lip kit and I scrape a lot eventhough my car is only lowered .5 inch from stock. I don't even think raising the car by another .5 inch would even help, since when I scrape it's really bad. The paint is starting to chip due to some flexing, but I don't want to repaint just to have it chip some more again.
Mine came lowered with the Wings West lip too and is exactly at 4". That has seemed alright for everywhere even at speed EXCEPT driveways- including my own, which is still negotiable slowly and at a 45 degree angle. Then again, lots of vehicles scrape on my curb, even friends' minivans. Great to be out of the minivan stage and watching 'em leave WITHOUT me in one... :biggrin:
I can't even imagine one at 3". That is sick. But I like the last part the best. I'd not considered it before and really do like the concept of the lip as a consumable. Buy a few, paint 'em Formula Red, be done with it.
