...within the top 50's cars...
Acura NSX
How can a fifteen year old design, from a firm best known for mass produced blandness, make the Top 50? Oh yeah, they also have some guys who do F1 and IRL. And, heck, if the 911 can work after forty years, what’s fifteen? Particularly if you start with one of only four mid-engined offerings under $100k. The NSX offers great if not razor sharp handling, and a marvelously flexible if slightly tepid motor. And the mid–engine chassis yields a driving position that is far more special than most of the competing sports cars.
PROS: View over the dash, engine sound above 4000 rpm, balanced handling, exclusivity
CONS: Dated styling, lacks grunt, initial understeer, overpriced, though a ’96 or later version is a neat way to deal with the pricing problem
Best of the Bunch: 3.2 manual transmission
Power: 290 bhp
Torque: 224 lb-ft
0–60: 4.9 sec.
Engine: 3.2 V-6
Price: $89,000
