Found a good shop

As you know, my car goes to Erin Mills Acura for the regular work and for warranty stuff. I had some work that was atypical, so Ive been looking for a shop to do it for me.

I found Jordan Marrison from Vertex Fabworx in Newmarket. Ive been seeing Jordan at the track for a couple years and Ive grown to trust his judgement. He told me about his new shop and that he would check with Brock, his business partner, if they were able to do it. No problem he said.

So I dropped the car off and Jordan drove me to the GO Station (actually the fastest way to and from Newmarket) and two days later I picked it up.

I had them install my 3qt accusump in the trunk and my AEM UEGO Wideband in the area of the ashtray. Im very happy with both installs.

The Accusump is sitting lower than most of the installs Ive seen, which is great because it allows me to put my roof back there still (I have a CF engine cover). I provided Vertex with all of the parts including the accusump, the hoses, the fittings, the bulkhead union, the valve, a different switch for the cabin, and the mounting brackets.

The AEM went cleanly in the area of the ashtray. Brock dremmeled the area out to make it fit so that with the door closed, there is no evidence that it is there. Its very clean.

Beyond what I needed them to do, I bought tires from a PRIMER. He dropped them off to Vertex and Jordan took them down the street to get them mounted. They also looked at my oil and decided to do a full change, so they went to Acura to get a filter. Without them doing that, Id have had to do both on my own time late in the week.

Im extremely happy.

Vertex does full cages and race cars, but will also do small jobs like mine. Id bring my car back to them in a second for non-dealer type of work.

Yes, I pointed you by. Brand spanking new RA1s with full tread are not very confidence inspiring. Actually, theyre terrifying! Thought you'd have know that by now.

Ive got a video'd lap at 1:36. Have you got one yet or has your video been down since 1:42?

My video is here ( http://video.google.ca/videoplay?do...l=3&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=2 ). Time the lap after I pass the BMW.

Where's your video? Still counting steamengines as you lap?

excuse my newbie ignorance, but doesn't accumsump simply boost oil pressure ?

Is stock set up not able to do so ?

Is this the typical set up with a SC ?

Simon, the accusump is a resevoir of oil that can be called upon when needed. There is a pressure sensor that detects if your oil pressure has dropped below x. If that happens, instead of accepting only the oil that gets picked up at the pan, the accusump injects oil into the system, taking the place of the normal oil circulatory system. It has enough to supply the engine for about 15 seconds or so, so if during a high g corner, all of the oil gets sloshed away from the pick up and you have a starvation issue, your engine is protected. Once pressure rebuilds, the pump fills back up and waits for a repeat. NSXs appear prone to starvation issues on SOME tracks once the car has R compounds on and is driven fast. Never off of the track though.
