Hey guys

Any of you take your ex out golfing? I know the trunk was originally designed to hold 2 golf bags. That may have been true with those 80's clubs/bags, but I have a hard time fitting in even 1 full-size bag. I have resorted to using the small PING Moonlite bag, but its kinda tiny and flimsy to use as a game bag. It works fine for a range bag, though.

So, my question is - if you take your car out golfing, what bag/equipment do you use? Any tips on fitting in two sets - without losing the passenger seat? :)

I never tried more than one bag. And I don't have an ex that plays golf. Playing golf with your spouse may be the cause of them becoming your ex in the first place.

You geeks, I refer to my NSX as the 'ex', not the real ex :P Why the heck would you risk having a mad woman around with a bag full of metallic sticks!! And trust her with washing your balls !!!
I'll wash my own, thank you very much.

Lmao, next time just refer to it as your "X" it will clear up a lot of confusion...

I was thinking the same thing as most...wtf are you golfing with your ex for???

Anyways, I have no problem with fitting two carry style bags...cart bags are too big to fit two sets in.

Get yourself one of these types.

All the time. My wife and I have small-ish carry bags though. And no CD changer. That little bit of space is a game changer, I think.

I have to take out the drivers and put them in on top of the bags, but otherwise, two bags fit fine. Shoes as well.

Some people in the parking lot are amazed that the car can fit so much.

I can fit my Bag Boy bag, the one that can rotate the clubs within the bag in my NSX trunk. Only one bag will fit though.

I'm a very avid golfer and fit 2 carry bags.. I personally use a Ping Under 4 bag, but I also have removed the CD changer. I do not remove any clubs from either bag to fit them in the trunk.

I know my 1 single bag fits. Along with a cooler full of frosty beers as I refuse to pay 4$ per beer. I imagine, no cooler full of beer equals 1 more golf bag. Just a theory though.
I also agree with other posts, I golf to get away from the old bag. If you enjoy it with her, that's awesome! Your a lucky man.

Jinks, you are lucky, I'd GLADLY pay $4 a beer! Over here in da big white north, we easily pay $7-$10 per can! Yes, that is a rip-off and a half and it makes your ass bleed, but wtf else is there to do if you forget to smuggle some in? :)

91X, yes, I could refer it to as just the 'X'. However, then I would miss out on the opportunity to make some amazingly cheesy jokes. For example...my wife's cousin was over for dinner, I asked her " Hey would you like to see my ex?" She looked at me, looked at my wife... who played along and said "Yea show her your ex...still keepin 'er in the garage, right?" Anyway... you see, thats the kind of comedy thats missing from pop culture these days.

2 modern bags might be a bit of stretch if you keep all the crap in the pockets. If you go light weight it would probably work. I can do my bag and push cart no problem (there are also shoes in there but they're wedged under everything).

I don't play golf, but I'm curious why the clubs and bags have become so much bigger since the 80's. Do people tend to carry more clubs with them than they did in the past?

Well, there's a few factors:

1. There are more clubs per bag then people used to carry. Especially the wedges. In the old days, someone would just have a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. Now, there's so many different types of wedges available that most people carry 3-4 wedges if they have the room.

2. The clubhead designs have changed and the newer designs are much larger. The woods these days are HUGE compared to 15-20 years ago.

3. The newer bags have a lot more pockets and convenience features than the old carry bags. Features like cooler pockets, ball holders, fat carry straps, individual club dividers and so on. These have resulted in fatter bags which take up more room.

So its a combination of all these factors. The smaller bags that we were talking about earlier in the thread, are meant to be used for a quick day at the range or a quick 9 hole game or something when you may not need to carry all of your clubs and equipment with you.
