got my hood from VIP. it was packaged awesome and it looked great when i finally got it out.

but once i installed it , no matter which way i adjusted sides the driver side seemed to be longer then the passenger. and so theres a gap / lift because it wont go down all the way. on the driver side part it hits the rubber that secures the hood in.

i took some crappy cell phone pics so any help would be nice.
also wondering how long have you had your VIS hood and any fading / or dents appearing? (random question my friend had weird experience with one but on his civic)

I'd contact the seller and ask them about it and what they think could be done. Though you may not want to dirty up the clean look, I wonder if hood-pins would fix your fitment issue.

But I guess it shouldn't really come to that if you and the vendor can work out an appropriate fix.
 
just to clarify. VIP-bodykits is an awesome vendor and he is working with me on getting this fixed. He's the one that suggested me posting this to see if any other owners fixed this if not ill probably see me anew hood ;]
 
Hood pins will pretty much remedy that problem assuming you like hood pins. I had sparcos on the Z but I just don't care for pins on an NSX.
 
IMHO-I have never seen anything that was produce from VIS fit like factory.

its not the gap that im really worried about .. its how long it is where it wont flush down so it looks up
 
FWIW, my VIS hood and fitment looks exactly like yours. Although, my hood was one of the first few and is several years old.
 
The gaps are not too bad since I have a white car along with flash light, it shows the gap very well. I fyou look at it during day time, those gaps are the same as my OEM hood.
 
Hood fit is always tough...especially on white. White is the most difficult color to do. If it was a black car you wouldnt notice.

I had an OEM custom made and it even had some issues. Nothing you can see in a photo and nothing you can see if you are just looking at the car.

My body guy told me that even OEM has to be fit and dialed into place. I am assuming that is because production will differ for each batch especially over the years. I know you can also start messing with your fenders and front bumper fit to get it dialed in.

I woyld go with the best fitting hood you can find response for out there. I would think a 99% fit hood would be great. At 95% you will have a noticeable flaw or two.

yoojeankim, i know what you are talking about and my VIS hood needed some adjustments when I first put it on about a year ago. After "dialing" it in better, I was able to get it flush in the front and reduce the gap.

Here's what I did, look and see if the threaded rubber stopper located at the top of the headlight on the driver's side is raised:

if it is, tighten it down all the way.

you can see that adjusting even a quarter of an inch lower in this area of the middle of the hood makes a big difference with how much it will stick up on the end. This threaded stopper aligns the hood height level with the fender during assembly as a final touch during "dialing".

next, the entire hood needs to be rotated a few degrees counter clockwise (if you're facing the car) so that the hood will move to the right about an eighth of an inch to close in on that gap near the headlight and shorten the overall distance to that front edge by tucking it up more into the driver's side hood hinge.

open the hood and first loosen the 2 oem bolts on the driver's side hood hinge. Push the hood with some good effort towards the driver's seat and tighten down the bolts. go to the passenger side, loosen the 2 bolts and now push the hood away towards the headlight and then tighten it down.

now you have to move the adjustable hood latch lock about an eighth of an inch to the right, over towards the driver's side. there are 3 bolts if i remember correctly, two on the left and one on the right that need to be loosened to slide it to the right a little, but first you have to unscrew 2 screws to move the cable release mechanism out of the way to access the 3rd bolt on the right.

test it out numerous times after each adjustment, opening and closing the hood until it fits just right. finally, the headlight cover panels have several adjustable screws on the sides to raise and lower to make it flush with the fender and hood. Again, in an effort to minimize that gap, I raised my headlight cover panel all the way up on the left side and all the way down on the right and you can see the results in my first pic. I do remember using a dremel to enlarge the size of the adjustment hole a little so I could get the headlight cover panel even higher to be flush with the hood.

here's my 2 cents. the VIS hoods seem to have a problem with fitment in the far right corner near the driver's side headlight as it dips slightly down (see pic in red), the gap to the left of the driver's side headlight (see pic in red) and finally how tight the fit is to the front bumper on the right(see pic in red) but you probably wouldn't have noticed the last one unless it was pointed out to you and it is very minimal if at all, and that's where you are having the problem. from what i've seen the downforce NA1 hood has better fitment in all these areas but still seems to have a problem with flaring tips in the front corners (see reference in blue). Both hoods require some filing down of the holes for the nozzle spray heads to snap fit properly (see pic blue and red).
