Anyone have any ideas on this mystery? After driving for awhile and turning off engine, you can smell a slight oil or fluid "burn". It's only on the left side of engine compartment. Car is '94 NSX with automatic. 84,000 miles. Serviced by Acura. New trans at 70,000 miles because of slippage. Acura installed. $6,000.00.
Timing belt service done at 60,000 with new water pump. Oil pan replaced with strainer at 83,000. No leaks on garage floor. Car does not burn a drop. All fluids always clean and full. Runs very strong. Dealer said it might be residue burning off after pan was replaced. Can't be. That was 1200 miles ago. Spoke with NSX tech on phone and even he had no ideas. I've been all over bottom of car. Has anyone ever experienced this one? Thanks.

Could be your cam plugs weeping or your vtec spool valves..Both are potential areas for slight oil leakage..Many times it is very minor and you won't ever see any on your garage floor...These areas can leak just enough to burn off, but you should still see some evidence of a leak if you get under there and look closely. Do a search and you'll see plenty of discussion about spool valves and cam plugs.

I had the same problem for about 6 months, I found out that the V tec seals on both sides were leaking a little.
The Vtech seal on the back side would leak and drop on the flex part of the header then burn off.
The only way I figured it out was, I changed to mobil 1.
Then the leak was 10 times as bad.

It could be your cam seals as well, that seal is easy to see when leaking.
Its not that safe to drive if its droping onto the header and burning off, it could catch fire.
I didn't notice my car burning any oil when tis was going on.
I had my oil pan seal done as well.
