The oil pressure gage on our '94 with 39,200 miles has been behaving strangely for the recent few weeks. While it always ran at or above '4' when warm, for the past 2,000 miles or so, the gage will occasionally drop abruptly to 2 (never below) then quickly back to 4+- regardless of engine speed. The Mobil 1 5W30 and filter were changed at 37,500 and have been each 3 months or 5,000 miles whichever occurs first. The dipstick always reads full. What might be going on?

Old thread! I have the same issue. The oil sender is on the airbox side of the motor on the block underneath the coolant tank.
You will have to remove the coolant tank to see it. I have the same issue. I replaced the sensor and it still does what you describe.
No clue what it is?? I even replaced it with the science of speed sensor upgrade issue.. Seems like a common problem??
