I got my Flow Master exhaust installed today. All of the good things you have heard are true. It sounds GREAT. It is not too loud, it has a smooth refined sound, much like the Group M. Since I sold my Ferrari I have been missing that great exhaust note. I now have it back. And you can't beat the price.

The details are:
Flow Master #42582 $98 from 21st Century Exhaust 800.276.6399.
Tips - Pilot #PM-567 $75 from autobarn.com.
The install was done at Perfect Performance in El Cajon, CA $200, Talk to Terry 619.631.0270.

I had them reuse the inlet pipes, everything else was new.

Looks like your rear bumper is getting blacken/melted by the exhuast...

What can one do to prevent that anyways besides taping on some silver/chrome looking thingy that I see people do...?

My bumpers already black!! :p j/k
Anyways, I just wanted to add that I love the way my NSX sounds with the Flowmaster. It sounds awesome. Way better then the CompTech I used to have, that actually blew a big hole in the canister. :(
If the money wasn't an issue, I would have gone with something like Tubi, Anytime, M Gruppe, ACR, Taitec, RM, or something along these lines. But in all, I paid about $200 for the Flowmaster muffler, the install, and the tips. The sounds it produces is well worth the price in my honest opinion.

ok guys, I borrowed my bro's digy cam last night. I think I can record short clips on it, so I'll try testing it out tonight and hosting them so I can share. That way you can hear when I'm driving, fly by, and engine rev. Wish me luck, I'm not good with compooters. :p

Resonance with Flowmaster?

Do you get interior resonance or droning like an airplane with the flowmaster exhaust? I had a Comptech billet tip exhaust which was quite loud and caused enough resonance to be uncomfortable on drives of more than 10 minutes. I was afraid it could do hearing damage.
Also, has anyone fabricated the pipes from scratch? I'd like to keep my stock exhaust.

Re: Resonance with Flowmaster?

resonance:
hmm, I don't know how to answer this. I think there is a little. But it's not loud. Nothing vibrates(well, not any parts of my car, just my garage door opened thats on my visor), and I can talk like normal on my cell phone. No hearing problems at all. It has a nice race car like sound. Not loud and raspy, not like a 4 banger with a tin can as the muffler, and not deep and echoing tone like a Mustang/Camero with a flowmaster. It has its own unique sound that I really like.

And yes, my pipes were custom fabricated. I still have my OEM exhaust that I can bolt right back on. Any professional muffler shop should be able to do it. Fortunately for me, I'm friends with a guy who does this and he hooked me up for about $50.

Hope this helps...

No, that is just a shadow. The picture was taken in an area under a tree.

I don't think so, at idle there is practally no increase in sound. At 2000 rpm it starts to come alive. Very liveable at freeway speeds.

To me the biggest disadvantage is that it is made out of galvinized steel and it will not last as long as stainless steel. If and when that happens, I will just replaced it with another flowmaster.

Unless you use your NSX as a daily driver and/or drive it in all types of weather, the flowmaster should last a very long time. I think most of us probably never even get our cars wet if we can help it . Road salt is the major contributor to the breakdown of galvanized type exhausts and if you're cautious, like most of us, you'll never see any.

HELP!!

I made the same request for the sound clip and Lud offered to host it. That was on the old server and don't know about size of files and such here on the new one. Someone out there would probably host them if you asked. Don't answer your question I know but maybe this helps.

Well, I made some small video clips and hosted them on ImageStation since thats were I have my pictures. But I don't know how to share them? Lud asked me what format, and I have no clue. When I get off work, I'm going to head to my brothers house to see if he can help me out. Hopefully I will be able to share them later this evening. I made several clips.
