Since a lot of you are visiting Orlando from out of state, it would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with our traffic laws. A complete summary can be found here.
You should pay close attention to Chapter 316.191 which concerns street racing. A police officer at his sole discretion can decide if you are racing and arrrest you and impound your vehicle on the spot. It is probably a good idea to join AAA and have that bail bond certificate handy. :)

Also know that Florida law mandates a written warning (i.e. no moving violation) for speeding up to 5 MPH over the posted limit. I keep a print out from the FHP website in my car just in case. The actual statute is Title XXIII Chapter 318 Section 18 Sub-paragraph (3)(b) which can be found here. The law does not apply in a school zone.

If you have a concealed weapons permit from one of the following States, Florida recognizes your permit. Further information can be found here. A more detailed page with specific Florida restrictions can be found here. It outlines where you can and cannot have a weapon on your person. If you're going to be packing heat, read it!

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming.

In Louisiana your vehicle is an extension of your home allowing a weapon in the car with no permit. (different law from a carry permit)

What about FL.?

Good question and I don't have the answer to it. But even if such a law existed in Florida, it might not apply to out of state residents. You can call the Division of Licensing at 850-245-5691.

The statutes pertaining to firearms are here if you want to research them yourself. Sub-chapter 790.25 describes lawful ownership and possession. It allows a firearm in the home or place of business but does not mention an automobile.

CORRECT, just for about ANY STATE:
Examples:

1. "Reving" or high idoling your engine in a public area and/or steets, stop lights, stop signs, (even a grocery store), is inviting someone to come race you.

2. Parked and/or nearby watching street races. For all an officer knows, you could have just finished or be getting ready to race. SO, GUILTY by association.

3. DUH:wink: factor...actually in the middle of a race.

4. Accessive Acceleration (my favorite); I hear this one complained about alot...even on Prime. Yes, when you speed off from the gas station or any other place for that matter (sometimes, peeling out...otherwise known as losing control of your vehicle to an officer) or in a tunnel to hear the great sound of your exhuast, it is provocing as well as distracting from other drivers. There are too many examples for me to list here under this subject.

SO...I think you get the hint though...?

ANY ?'s:wink:

I'm sure Wei-Shen Chin will stress this to all involved during NSXPO '06, but having lived in Orlando all my life there are certain areas to be much more careful than others:

1. Maitland - Area of town where the Wed. Oct 11th Go-Karting takes place is heavily notorious for traffic cops that will pull you over for anything.

2. Hwy 528 ("The Beachline") - Road we will take on Fri. Oct 13th to Kennedy Space Center is known for airplane patrols. But, we are caravaning and hopefully won't get too awfully crazy.

3. Winter Park - Sat. Oct. 14th optional shopping tour (I don't expect too many NSX's driving around) Has the Orlando areas most aggressive traffic cops!

4. Stretch of I-4 in front of Seaworld - Incidentally, right by International Drive where the Host Hotel is located is frequented by a group of FHP's that pull over speeding tourists regularly.

5. International Drive (I-Drive) - You don't see many local cops, but traffic is heavy with tourists from many other countries that drive terrible and do the stupidest driving you've ever seen...so be extra careful of those NSX's on I-Drive.

Other than these areas, go crazy and burn up those tires. Just joking:biggrin: and remember, radar detectors are legal and advised in FL. FHP uses K band and most all locals use Ka.

Hope this helps.

Especially since we'll be under police escort. :)

TRUTH for every tourist to O-TOWN/ORANGE COUNTY, FL

why the heck would someone need to bring a concealed weapon/ firearm to an auto convention?

In "right to carry" states, people with permits generally carry their weapons at all times and it becomes habit. A good habit I might add as it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

If you're a crack dealer it's a good idea!

Ask Doc about sushi body shots. :) Poor Captain Ted.

I'm not even going to waste the $.25 that it cost me to upload the picture in my phone of you sucking that piece of Torro off of Ted's bald head. That truly was one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen.

People are bringing guns to NSXPO?

WTH?

Guns go along with the drugs and hooker's that will also be at NSXPO.

Just kidding of course. But you probably don't realize how many people carry guns that are around you all day long.
