Fitting the center A/C duct?

I searched for this but could not find an answer. I am having trouble fitting the black plastic center a/c duct that goes between the center console vents and the white a/c main duct. It always seems in place, but when I put the vents back in place it seems to slip out of place? Any hints or tips on properly fitting this duct piece?

The duct is held on by clips to the white duct assembly. You need to pinch down on the black plastic piece to get it to clip into place. If it is not being held in place, the plastic is probably deformed. Stretch the black duct outwards to get it to expand. It should then be held in place in the clips. It only needs to be held in loosely as the vent assembly will captivate it into place once installed.

Thanks. Here is what happened - the old (falling apart) foam was lodged in the bottom "clip" so the black duct could not engage it properly. After clearing it out I was able to get it in fine. I noticed that engaging the bottom piece first makes it a lot easier to install also.
