So I've got someone interest in purchasing my 1995 full exhaust system with cats, but he wants to put it on to his 1991 car WITHOUT changing his exhaust manifolds.

Will my equipment fit up if he keeps his '91 exhaust manifolds on?

I think he wants to avoid removing the whole subframe to replace the front manifold.

The system is actually 4 parts:

Manifold, Down Pipe, Cat, Exhaust

The manifolds are the same, 1991-96.

ALL the other parts, however, are not the same. So you either have to include the Down Pipes, or he will need to update his Down Pipes with a 1995-1996 set. These are required to mate with the 1995-1995 cats, they have different flanges(1995-96 = two bolt vs. 1991-94 = three bolt)

What would be gained by this swap?

My understanding is the old style (91-96) manifolds are where the exhaust flow restriction occurs, not downstream from there as much. Or if you prefer, the old style cast iron manifolds do not enhance the flow of the exhaust gases away from the exhaust ports on the heads.

The buyer bought his car without the original exhaust and with missing CATs. He wanted to have the OEM exhaust and CATs.

Well if he wants a stock 91 exhaust I am going to have one in about a month, when I get the Honey Do List complete, very reasonably priced.

I am going to replace my whole OEM 91 exhaust system from the engine back to the muffler tips with an OEM system from a 98 model.

I will even have a current emission test to show that the cats are good.
