It's been a long time coming, but I've finally proven that my 11 year old car is up to snuff. I went out to Motorsports Ranch Houston today with my Dad. He brought his Z06 and we had a great time. The NSX is a dream on the track. I used to love driving the Z06 at Texas World Speedway, but I can honestly say that there is no way I'd take rather any street car (that I can concievably afford) on a race track. Anyway, it was a blast! The track is most certainly a handling track. There are two straights, but mostly a lot of late apex cornering. I ran the track in 2nd and 3rd gear. It's almost perfect because at the end of the straights, just before braking, I'm coming up on about 7900 RPM in third. With slicks to hang on around the carousel on the back straight, I would probably need 4th, but using street tires, there's no need. The group of people was really good. One of "The Driver's Edge" instructors went out with me for about 6 laps. That was great. This wasn't a DE event, but he was there and did me a favor since I haven't been on a track in 2 years. I'm just really pleased that all the time I've put into maintenance and the choices I made for upgrades to the NSX really shined on the track today. Oh well, enough chatter. Here are a few pics.

Dad in his Z06 (I still laugh, it's an '03 with 4200 miles; he's got too many cars.)

I believe you are referring to MSR - Fortworth. I have countless vipers and vetter do a spin on the pit out:biggrin:

MSR - Houston is its sister track that opened near Houston.

The event was the one in the ferrarichat post linked above. I could see spinning on pit out at MSR, but turns 16&17 right before the front straight have been repaved with a more slick surface specifically to slow people down so they don't end up in the tires.

I had a hell of a time. I moved back to TX from Florida this year, so any of you Texans that know a good NSX mechanic, I'd love to hear from you. I'm willing to drive the car to Dallas/Ft. Worth if I have to. I'm probably going to have the engine rebuilt in about 10k miles. I'm at 70k now, and I love having a fresh car.

Ahhhhh,,,never mind:redface:

Just curious as why you think you need an engine rebuilt. Any issues with the motor? Dyno #'s changed?

Either way I would say your best bet if you want to get it rebuilt is SOS or Basch in Arizona. Ojas sent his to Mark Basch- you might want to pm him.

Call it "extreme" preventative maintance

btw, docjohn - if you liked MSR - fortworth before. You really need to check it out now. They expanded it from 1.7 miles to 3.1 miles with blind turns, major elevations and drops. well "major"for Texas atleast:biggrin:
