Well today was the second of two days of testing with a set of KW-V3's.

Track: Firebird Raceway West Track, 1.1 miles roadcourse

To start, they were replacing OEM shocks / Tein Springs.

First impression on the kit itself... VERY easy to install. Was happy the spec sheet came with recommended settings on height and valving. I installed the coilover at the minimum recommended height and recommended valving.

The car suspension wise has SOS swaybars and 235/275 F/R tires (NT05).

First things First, Saturday I hit the scales to check corner balance.

What was absolutely astonishing was that with me IN the car, the vehicles cross weights were exactly 50% and there was only a 10lb difference between the rear left and right tires. The fronts were equal.

That absolutely blew me away. I have never gotten that lucky with any previous coilover. Stoked, I jumped right on the track. At first the car started pushing real badly and that ended the day while I retired to the tweaking board.

Day 2, I returned with the front swaybar loosened up significantly and clicked the front dampers REBOUND valve from 7 to 6 and left the rears at 9, COMPRESSION at 1.5 all around.

Wow. I must say, the car came alive. I later competed in a class based Time attack series out here in AZ and came out with a 1.10 laptime which was middle of pack. WITH a near complete stop on track due to a miss-shift going into a 90 degree bend (Turn 5). Im confident there was another second scrubbed off in that turn which would have put my car in the top 3 for the class.

I ended up finishing 7th for my class and 14th out of 25 overall (three classes).

I was impressed with the first day out with the new suspension, and will continue to tweak and enjoy them! I hope to report back with better TA results next time!

Other than the suspension mods, this car has I/H/E and dyno'd 242whp on a Dynapack (a stock 91 with 16k dyno'd 219 on the same dyno to reference it).

Just thought i'd share my experience with these KWs. Two thumbs up! The car WILL get faster with time :)

What is your front & rear camber and toe?

Front and rear HOT tire pressures?

*REBOUND adjustment is on TOP of the damper.
*COMPRESSION adjustment is on BOTTOM of the damper.

-So you are now at 6 front, 9 rear clicks (from full stiff) in Rebound, and 1.5 clicks (from full stiff) in Compression all around?

Sorry billy I spaced my wording for a second, its setup as stated in the KW setup : 6-9 Rebound (top valve) and 1.5 on the lower valve (compression).

Its running 1/16th Toe out in the front, 1/16th Toe in for the rear..
1.5 negative camber in front, 2.0 negative camber in rear.

Hot tire pressures F(34psi) R(37psi). I adjusted them until the wear was reaching the wear indicators (triangles) on the side.

It felt leaps and bounds above the OEM stuff.

Any suggestions Billy? I know you've had lots of time on this suspension. Im not toooo concerned with DD performance as its mainly used for track duty.

I referred to the compression in terms of "clicks" or "Sweeps" from full stiff. You can only turn the compression valve 1/4-turn, or 1 "sweep/click" at a time.

Read the thread but I set them at KW's reccomended 2 sweeps front, 4 sweeps rear with great results. This = 1 full turn front and 2 full turns rear. This should quicken the weight transfer and response of the front end as well.

Ravi doesn't know how to setup suspension for jack, I was only two seconds behind him in an Integra with no v-tec:biggrin:. Just kidding, the car looked good out there Ravi! Looking forward to see what you can do with it with more adjustments and seat time!

Haha Damn you eric! lol You ran 2 seconds slower than me... dont forget I stopped on track on that lap hahah :)

But you were looking good to man! I think i had a 1.08 on that track had I been timed on the first set of laps, but transponder failure is transponder failure :)

Thanks for the information! I'll post back up shortly after reading and thinking!

LOL excuses, excuses

Wait until PIR when I have some coilovers!! We shall see what happens then!

I am not sure whether I will get out much on that event... I will be there for sure helping out but with NSXPO the same month, I may have to save the car :(

Thanks again billy, im going to try the suggest KW settings again but run the fronts slightly stiffer on the rebound but the recommended compression settings!

I had a great time on this suspension at AMP in litchfield arizona recently using the KW recommended. Just fantastic stuff.
