Great pics Valerie and Akira3d. The next best thing to being there!!! :D :D :D

Thanks, Scott and Randy!

Scott, are the pics posted on your ImageStation account from your Canon 10D? Image Info doesn't show any EXIF information. Also, are those all of the shots you took? And how are you liking your 10D?

Randy, I'm too busy to do a write up for NSX Driver. Remember, I only JUST got all of those pics up there...and how many weeks ago was the drive?

Thanks, Conrad...btw, did you ever send your video to Mark? And how did your footage look?

very nice modded Silver NSX!

Yeah, I sent them to Mark the following weekend.

I missed the best part of the drive though. The tape ran out!!! Although I did change it and got about the last 10 minutes of our drive.

I was stopping and starting the camera. If we were stuck behind a slow car, I'd stop it. I turned it on only for the twisty or scenic stuff. There was a section where I was able to keep up with Marc and Allen's Supercharged and Turbocharged NSX's... but I was kidding myself and was fighting the wheel too much... I then backed off and realized the tape wasn't running.

The footage was alright. I wish I had wide-angle lenses on it... hopefully Mark can work some magic and make them more exciting!

The footage you obtained from the spinning white NSX was awesome! Nothing exciting from my tape. There were flames that came out of Allen's exhaust at one point... but it wasn't anything too spectacular.

I can't wait to see the DVD!

(I should send him some of my pictures... again, nothing too spectacular there too...)

I like your NSX Driver cover candidates of the Blue 2002 NSX! I betcha Randy does too... we have our cars in them! heheh

Eric,
The images on IS are from the 10D. ?? What is EXIF? There are a few more pics, but they weren't all that great. The camera is great. I'm learning about its features everytime I pick it up. (Since I haven't read the owners manual yet). Yeah I know kinda lame but no time.

Oh... and one more thing...

I should have tested it out a bit more...

The bug splats on my windshield became a good focus point for the camera... damn. (They weren't THAT bad...)

Next time I'll leave it on infinite... if I remember! :p

(Ah... the place where my tape ran out was right when we got on Deckard Canyon...)

Conrad,

I too forgot to set my focus on infinite...which was pretty foolish given that A) my windshield was hit by morning mist and bug splats throughout the drive, B) I used a wide angle conversion lens (Sony warns that this can throw off the auto focus), C) I was shooting fully wide. Fortunately, the footage seems pretty sharp...but it probably could have been sharper.

I would have liked to use a polarizing filter as well (to reduce the glare from the dash), but my wide angle conversion lens does not have a filter ring.

I too cut whenever the drive got boring. I only briefly showed straightaways, I cut when traffic slowed to a near stop (there's nothing of Santa Paula). It's a good thing I didn't cut all of the time though, because I happened to catch moments like the Porsche C4S just before it decided to turn around and join our caravan.

I have nearly uncut the entire run from Westlake Blvd through Encinal Canyon, Deckard Canyon, and Mulholland Highway. I started running out of tape as we approached Agoura Road, so I cut and just recorded pulling into the lot of Hamburger Hamlet. Unfortunately, I was in a group that frequently got stuck behind slow movers (i.e. non-NSXs)...so, though much of it is twisty, the speeds we are traveling makes it not very exciting (but you should see how crazy it looks at 8X speed).

Since I shot widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) and I assume that many of you did not, I wonder how Stepp will cut our footage together.

The footage you obtained from the spinning white NSX was awesome

BTW, there is one SMALL problem with that footage...the white NSX happens to be on the edge of the video safe area. It looks great on the computer, but tends to get lost in the TV's overscan. If only I could have panned the camera a little to the left.

I didn't shoot in widescreen. :(

I had the opposite "problem..."

I couldn't keep up with Marc and Allen (I was third in line for most of the drive.)... so I was alone in most of my footage.

Even when I wasn't up front, I still couldn't keep up! :D My new tires only had 30 miles on them before the canyon trip and were really squishy. (Honestly!)

Randy says I have an excuse for everything...

It's funny... at the beginning of the drive, my adrenaline got to me. I was getting mad because I was with a slow pack. I was starting to make fun of those that were going slow... (edit that out Mark S! hahah) I wanted to be with Marc/NSXTC and Allen... so on the next portion of my footage, I am with them... but only for a second... I couldn't keep up.

I'm telling you... my excuse is valid! They were both turbocharged and supercharged with sweet suspension systems!!! :D And I was here with my stock T with squishy, overheating tires! :)

Eric and Val,
That was just like we drove it all over again! Thanks for taking the time to describe the shots, it made it that much better. Can't wait for the dvd.
Take care,
John
