Film/tape paint protectant (common at track events)

What's the name and type of film people put on their cars to protect the paint during track events or even long distance drives? What type of shops might carry that?

SoS Chris, I remember you used this on our way down to NSXPO '99.

I noticed Chapter 76 on nsxfiles.com shows a blue tape/film on a 360 Modena.

The Blue Tape is just 3M Painters tape that can be found at your local Home Depot or Lowes. It's relatively in-expensive yet comes in quite handy...and won't hurt the paint on the car whatsoever.
