fan noise behind ashtray?

With the key turned just enough to activate the radio
(engine and a/c off) I seem to hear what sounds like fan noise behind the ashtray. The noise seems more noticeable when the ashtray is removed. Normally the sound is not a problem because the radio will drown any annoyance, but wondering what the
possible fix might be.

Thanks

ashtray noise

Nothing to fix. That is the aspirator fan located behind that little grid below your ashtray. The fan pulls air over a thermostat to measure the ambient temperature in your car. If it seems louder than normal, you spray a little canned air dust cleaner in the grid and blow off any accumulated dust. BE CAREFUL- it is a fragile part and can bend easily.
PS-Welcome to the forum. I used to live in Nashville.Miss the BBQ, but not the humidity.

The canned air trick may work. Or, it may not. If it doesn't, you'll need to disassemble the dash and replace the fan.

Check out the FAQ section on Troubleshooting - What's that NOISE?

Try the can of air trick, it worked for me. I had just bought my cay 4 weeks ago and kept hearing a noise from the dash. A few min of compressed air and no noise. BTW Planes are great, I have been painting airplanes for 6 years and just sold my piper cherokee 6. Keep flying hi!!!

Thanks for all your time and help.
After I posted the subject I realized there was a
facts section on this site.

Anyway your posts and pics are great.
Working on the problem soon.

This car is the closest I have come to flying
low (and fast)
