Just as I was wondering what to do with a day off in -15 degree weather my new JIC coilovers arrived. OK, problem solved, so before you know it the car is up on axle stands (wish I had a lift!).
The first thing you will notice, if you haven't done this before, and you search "fit shocks" on prime, is that most of the contributors recommend 2 x 4s and a 200lb assistant as required tools to do this. Somehow I couldn't see the guy who designed this car having 2 x 4 in his vocabulary.
Luckily for us Canadians, Canadian Tire Corp. has a program where they will lend you the special tools, no charge, for as long as it takes.
I borrowed a set of coil spring compressors on Saturday and the job took about 6 hours after that, no problems. (Those wheels are looking really good now, Dave )
Now I have to wait 2 months to get it down to EM Acura for an alignment!
While I have the car apart I want to replace the brake pads, anyone have any suggestions for suitable street/track pads? (easily available locally)

I 2nd that... thats right spending time with your baby! I have a stock load of stuff and no time to put any of it on. I was stuck at work for family day... joys of working for a federally regulated company...

Car looks good though!... Do you plan on sending your rear-A arms out for the camber mod? Did you just drop it slightly and make it a tire saver, or slam it lower and make it a tire eater? I think I was going thru a set of rears a season...

I took out my VTR-1000 on Sunday for a rip.
Got some cobwebs out of my head for sure.

John: Stock brake pads have never let me down - they're good - but ask Dave (Bio) what he runs

The other day at a red a guy pulled up behind me on a sportbike (couldn't see what) it was -8.5C and snowing - Must have been an Organ Donor looking for a drop box ;)

looks great John! Great upgrades and nice job spending time with the car mid winter.

I would just run the stock pads until theyre done and then I would replace them with hawk hp+ which gave worked well for me with ss lines, mogul 600

I have lowered the rear 1" and the front 1.375" ( the 17" front tires are .75" larger in diameter than the old 15s, so it should sit the same as the original but 1" lower), I am going to have it aligned with 3mm toe out on the front, 6mm toe in at the rear, 1 degree neg. camber at the front and 2 degrees neg. at the rear, I think that can be achieved without altering the suspension, if it goes through a set of tires per season that's OK, I think it will be better than the bikes are.

I had the FZ1 out on Jan 15 for a couple of hours, but let me tell you those Pirelli Corsa III's don't have much grip below freezing: redface:

I run the cobalt GTS pads, which are a great street/track pad. It took 3 days to get them by mail. Once they warm up the grip like crazy and just don't fade.

Wear out your stock ones first. They are free, and really quite good.
