I just installed the factory key-less entry system on my 91 and the system appears to be fine with only one minor weridy. When I unlock the doors and open the passenger side door, the locks appears to automatically relock itself in about 10-seconds or so. If I decide to open the driver's door, everything appears to be normal and it does not seem to automatically relock. Is this normal ?

When replacing my keyless entry (with a new one), I realized that my car had already had one -- seems that the previous owner traded in the car to the dealership without the remote. So what I did was swapped the brains so I can use my new remotes with the new brain. Now I have an extra keyless brain unit. I was wondering if there's any value in this and if the remotes can be purchased seperately for this unit.

That is normal. It is designed to work that way. The idea supposedly was that if you open the drivers door you probably disarmed the car on purpose. The car will relock itself if the drivers door is not opened. The reasoning behind that was if you accidently disarmed the car while walking away and putting your keys in your pocket, the car will rearm and lock automatically for you. All the Honda/Acura keyless entry systems that were of the era that the NSX system is act the same way.

Thanks. It's good to know that there's nothing wrong with my system. I don't know if I can say that I like the feature, but I can figure that you might need it since those buttons aren't very touchable and since the alarm doesn't do a chirp or blink the lights to let you know that you've pressed a button. Thanks again!

I have a "brain" without remotes. It was tossed in free when I bought an interior..There have been a number of threads on the subject--I think you would have a hard time getting replacement remotes from Acura but possibly something can be done on the aftermarket side as I recollect....If u check this out advise us.....

Can't you reorder remotes via the frequency or have them reprogrammed to the 'brain' already installed.
I sell OEM Ford parts and we sell just the remotes all day and program them to the vehicle.

Actually, this feature comes in handy specifically because the car does not chirp or blink. When you're not sure if you've locked the car, all you have to do is press the button again and have peace of mind that if you happened to go from lock -> unlock, it will lock itself back up in 10 seconds. Otherwise, it went from unlock -> lock...

Either way, you walk away knowing your car is locked. What I find annoying is that the car does not chirp or blink when you press the button; but short of that, this is a good compromise...

I believe you have to order the specific frequency code for the brain. The remotes themselve are not user programable. You provide the serial number for the brain and the dealer orders the correct remotes. I think the keyless system is made my Kenwood.

AS I recollect, the cost and trouble of getting the remotes from Acura is more than it's worth--because of security issues they may require you provide a # that is found on the remotes and guess what--u can't do it because u do not have the # or the remote!! Like I said there is another post on this somewhere...
