Ok, so I have the factory alarm/ keyless entry and I am a bit confused about how it works. I tried using the search function, but didnt find anything that answered my question

heres the deal... Everytime i disarm or unlock the car, it automatically locks/arms itself after i open the passenger side door. Its pretty annoying when i go to open the door for my gf and it locks itself causing me to have to unlock the car again to let myself in. Anyway, anyone know how to solve this problem?

thanx in advance!

Believe it or not, that's the way it comes, and it is supposedly a security feature. From the manual, and not an exact quote, but if the driver's side door is not opened within 10 seconds of the locks being actuated, it will relock itself. I know mine does it.
Besides, I trained my wife to get out of the car herself. I'll open doors for her all day long, but being gentlemanly has its limits....If I started opening the car door for her, she would a) not let me go to sleep right after...and make me HOLD her, or b) think I was running around on her.
;)
Humor (and untrue jokes, my wonderful bride) aside, I would love to know if there is a "fix" for this also, kinda like the flashing of the parking lights upon actuation fixit.

Keyless entry operation

The system will lock the doors automatically if no door is opened for about 10 seconds. The driver side must be opened to cancel the auto-lock feature. Both doors will still lock if the only the passenger side is opened. This is normal behavior.

Here's another tip. Make sure you lock the car with the keyless entry. For a short while, I was stumped why I had to press the keyless entry button twice to unlock my car. Prior to me having installed the keyless entry, I locked the car with the lock switch on the door handle and then closed the door. If you do this, the system "thinks" the car is unlocked even though it actually is. When you return to the car and hit the button on the remote, I could hear the system working but it didn't unlock the car. Actually it "locked" the car (even though it was locked) and on the second try it unlocks the car. Now I always lock the car with the remote.
