...don't you agree? Or is still "wrestling-like" in your opinion? ;)

Three very talented drivers with top notch tecnology in their cars (Ferrari/Schumi, Mercedes/Raikkonen and BMW/Montoy) in a two points difference. This at the lead of the classement. Wow, can't wait for the next race!

Colder temperatures and faster tracks will diminuish the difference between Michelin and Bridgestone making teh race even more interesting!

You are right, F1 is much better this year. Who all is going to the race? I am going Thursday night until Sunday night. Maybe some of us can get together and do some partying...:D

Yes I am. It should be an exciting time. I have been going every year since it came to Indy. If you want we can meet up there.

Rob

I have never been there for the GP. I was at the Speedway a few years ago, but that was just to see the place. I have been going to Montreal since 1985. Thats a great city to have the GP. The track is only 10 minutes by metro from downtown. All my friends say that while watching a race at Indy is good, there isn't much else to do in the city. It should be a cool experience though. I would expect the same kind of passion as the crowd at Monza, which is my all time favorite track.

FIA are retards @)#*$ing up by forcing Michelin back to the drawing boards with 2 weeks until the next grand prix.

Its freakin ridiculuous what the guys in red can pull. What a bunch of whiners. 'Our tyre manufacturer sucks, lets accuse the other one of cheating'

I have to disagree with that last post. There have been numerous occasions where the FIA have reinterpreted the rules in midseason. In 1994, while all the rest of the teams cut a hole in the rear of their airboxes, as per a rule, Ferrari found that a hole in the side, while technically correct, gave much less a reduction in the ram air effect. The FIA made them change it. In 1998 or 1999, McLaren had installed "fiddle brakes" on their cars. The Brazilian stwewards approved the brakes, as had Charlie Whiting the FIA tech representative, but after the Brazilian GP, the were deemed illegal. We can also talk about the Lotus twin chassis car, the Tyrell 6 wheel car, Ferrari's water injection, Tyrell's use of metallic ballast in the gas tank, Brabham's cheater suspension, and even the banning of sliding skirts. I agree that the timing of this stinks, but if Michelin is gaining an unfair advantage, then the FIA are correct in this ruling. I believe that Michelin knows they are illegal, by the way they have answered the allegations. They do not state that their tires have a tread within the 270MM limit, but instead claim that "at times and running over objects, scuff marks can appear far up the sidewall". Oh, lets not forget the allegations that BMW used illegal fuel to win the championship in 1983.

I agree. The history of F1 is riddled with these kind of circumstances and this Michelin story is just the latest. You can expect these things with a field this close. With the championship this competitive, you can be sure everyone will be searching for the extra edge and their competitors will be quick to point out any illegalities.

underwhelmed by HONDA no-show

Two spectator friendly events that come to mind this year...

Exotic Car Corral

The breathtaking, high-performance cars of Formula One will have good company Sept. 26-28 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as IMS plays host to car clubs featuring many of the world’s most glamorous automobiles during the United States Grand Prix.

The Speedway, in conjunction with designated national car clubs, including Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Corvette, Audi, BMW, Corvette, Dodge Viper and Mazda Miata, has organized “car corrals” for each manufacturer in the Speedway’s expansive infield on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28.

Many rare and high-performance variations of each brand of car will add diversity and interest to the corrals.

The car corrals will be located along the infield lake, which is part of the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, just east of the road course backstretch. Fans can access the car corrals via the overhead walkway that crosses the backstretch.

Although parking in the infield corrals is available for car club members only, all United States Grand Prix spectators are welcome to browse the exotic automobiles for free.

Grand Car Cruises

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway won’t be the only place to witness the beauty of fast, elegant cars during the 2003 United States Grand Prix weekend, thanks to the Grand Weekend Car Cruises in downtown Indianapolis, featuring some of the world’s most exotic automobiles.

On Friday, Sept. 26 and Saturday, Sept. 27, passenger car clubs featuring world-famous brands such as Ferrari, Jaguar, BMW, Porsche, Corvette, Dodge Viper, Ford Mustang, Mazda Miata and Audi will tour downtown Indianapolis along a route that will provide great viewing for the public, free of charge.

Unfortunately HONDA is conspicuously absent at both events... :(

Come oooon Jaun, come on !!!!! "YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE !!!!" (and white, lol) I'm tired of Shumacher and that rhino of a human being Ross Brawn stealing the whole show....not this time !
After so little time, look at what BMW engineers have done** They are the best in the world when it comes to no compromises racing...and Jaun has (IMHO) more raw talent than we have ever seen since Aryton Senna** (Yes, Shumacher included....he's great, a lot of "experience," probably the best techical director (brawn) which he's friends with and communicates with flawlessly accordingly) but as much raw "talent" as J. Montoya ? I seriously don't think so....I feel even the new comer from Spain "Fernando Alonso" has more raw talent than Sheumy... I think you guys forgot Michaels skills (or lack there of) when he FIRST started out in F1...meaning the first couple of years.

It's coming down to the wire this year....USGP will be so important and widely watched/attended...see you all there !!!! :):):) (not driving the NSX thou...a little too far :)

I will be there NSXTACY_MD. We have a bunch of guys driving there in beer filled camper. It should be interesting. I do think that the off track Montreal activities are better than the off track Indianapolis activities.

I have been going every year. Try a place about 50 minutes north of the track in Kokomo called Hip Huggers. It is simply an amazing place. I will be there Friday night.

Rob

maybe next year a bunch of us could go with our nsxs and show them on the infield, and take pics of Jenson Button sitting in my white honda!!!!!!!! or maybe I will just win the lottery and buy my own formua 1 team.
