I was talking this afternoon to Kipp Cohen about what kind of exhaust he might like on his NSX. My suggestion was to listen to everybody elses to see what he might enjoy. In Dallas we have a lot of choices to compare: Comptech, Tubi, Taitec, RM....You know low and throaty, a growl, or maybe high and kinda poppy. He suggested that vendors should post sound bytes of their different set ups for shoppers to compare.....Are there any owners out there that are up to this challenge?

Science Of Speed has quite a few sound clips posted and if you do a search there are a few members with sound clips of there own exhaust posted. But you can only get an idea of how it sounds from the clip and those impressions may not be the same as hearing the same exhaust in person.I have a tubi with comptech headers and i love the sound ...civilized without being obnoxtious.....i hope i spelled that rite .

Hi from New York City.
8 weeks ago I replaced my factory exhaust system with a Taitec Parallel set up. Costly, but WOW. The sound from this system is incredible-- high pitched, deep throated.
Passing beneath overpasses and through tunnels is a new and exciting experience. I even drive around now with my window down just to hear it. If money is no object and you intend to keep your car for awhile, go to SoS and check it out.

Tubi

I like my Tubi. Nice sound, but not obnoxious. But most of all, I like the look of the quad pipes. I wish they could correct the crooked left pipes.. but I'd recommend it anyway.

I think this is an interesting idea, and would be a wonderful complement to the NSX Prime archives. Clearly people may take soundbites of their exhausts at different points (blipping versus gradual acceleration versus all-out accelerating), but having a general sense of what different exhaust notes sound like would be very useful IMHO. Especially since exhausts are a regular source of discussion on our forums. Science of Speed does have some clips, but it would be helpful to complement those with our own archive of exhaust sounds.

My digi-cam has the ability to take moving pictures, but not sounds. Once I get a hold of a camera that can record sound, I will post some sound-bytes.

Lud, you think we can devote a section of our Audio/Video to exhuast sound-bytes?

Regards.

Audio, sure. Video is wasteful for a sound clip.
