Exhaust Question ...

We have a 2002 NSX NA2, which I understand has factory headers. Are these factory NA2 headers sufficient? Is there great gains in changing out the factory headers for a set of after market headers?

If so, which after market header do you suggest and why?

The first NSX I drove when looking to purchase an NSX was an NA2 which had a B&B Tri-flow exhaust (RM Exhaust) I fell in love with the sound, so this is the exhaust direction I will be going.

Will I enjoy an HP gain with going to the B&B Tri-Flow exhaust?

Thanks for your experience and input on this, your insight is appreciated.

Ian

answer:
02+ cars don't benefit from header like NA1s so don't waste your $$$ there
You'll need a 00+ muffler since there are three fitments, NA1, NA2 and NA00+ - otherwise you need custom adapter pipes

the na2 headers are still restrictive compared to some aftermarket,I had cantrell headers, then decided to try the stock na2 headers because everyone said they are "just as good" well, they are'nt the car is noticeably slower ,but also quieter.
The exhaust is either 91-94 or 95-05 poeple have said otherwise but I have seen it and the only difference is the cats and manifold, the car is the same so other than some dual tips not fitting the rear valence on 02-up cars - you need the one for 95-05 b&b lists it as 97-04

And to save a lot of reading - if you're running 02+your cats won't be improved on much using aftermarket ones - save the $$$ there are other cheap HP gains - Downforce AIS, new lighter muffler - as a racer we really appreciate the speed gains from lightening - I recommend exploring it as a solution as well, think about it, not only will your car go faster if you ditch dead weight, like your wife for example, but you'll look better driving it too!

dude -you've never been in a race!!!! You playing gt4 again?

You should rephrase everything you said above to:

"I'm so damn slow. I dont know anything about an NSX on a racetrack. You should ask Dave, he knows. Dave has stock headers and laps facking fast in his streetcar! Faster than me in my racecar!"

BTW Stu - what happened to your "pure race car"? You sell it? Your signature has changed. Is it no longer pink?

Which one of us has their racing license and which one is soooo whipped his wife won't let him even look at his marriage license? (I'll give you an hint, the not whipped one has the racing license)

Yeah Dave, that Aquasump tank and the extra 40 liters of oil you carry around sure makes the car lighter:rolleyes: I still don't understand why you have the red switch on the dashboard that says "oil slick" on it:rolleyes:

Never was pink, Still have it, had to rescue it from BRG, who closed down a week ago - Vong is all talk no bill payments it seems. AND someone stole the wheels off my car while it was in his yard!!!    Who'd need a set of custom offset 17" wheels with a Porsche bolt pattern and Hoosiers on them?  Either it was an inside job or Dave is trying to slow me down!

On the good side I'm gonna replace my Simmons with BBS because I can get them here and I get new rubber free (minus 10%) from my insurance co, and the BBS will be a bit lighter!

Did Andrew get his car out?

That is madness!

Yeah, Andrew called me to tell me I'd better get mine!

When I spoke to Vong about the insurance he said they were talking to thier company but that it was taking some time - what BS, an insurance co gets an adjuster on it FAST and accepts or denies a claim FAST, he probably wasn't paying the insurance bill!!

Michael explained that he was closing down because he is having prostate surgery and then planning on going to Hong Kong for months - I'm guessing to escape creditors based on how many cheques I'm told he's bounced (by people he's bounced them on:rolleyes:)

I figure a guy who starts a Grand Am team, runs part of two seasons and then decides that he wants to close down his garage was a poser all along - the trail of bounced cheques only proves it!

Now my problem is where my car will live and who will service it!

I like the Mantis guys but they are in OAKVILLE - which is the opposite of convenient!:frown:

NEITHER of us have a race license. Yours is expired, much like your hairstyle!!!!

Speak for yourself - my license is in good standing and you're just jealous of my hair!

Not your race license, maybe youre thinking of your ballet license?

You need to enter 3 or so races within your first season and them keep racing after that or else you have to retake the license. Special olympic races dont count.
