NSX exhaust from B&B Triflo burned up!
Whilst cleaning up after a DriverEd event at Sebring today, I noticed that the exhaust had generated a LOT of heat on the right side, enough to cause some damage:
- melting of the foam toolbox (and destroying several tools including the compressor)
- melting of part of the lower valance
Finally got the exhaust removed
- two large HOLES at the top surface, right side of the exhaust. Larger hole approx 3.5" x 3.75"; smaller hole approx 2" x 3". Holes joined by a crosswise crack approx 2.5" long
- upper seam (weld) on right side had cracked open -- approx 6.5" of seam was open
I believe the 2 holes were responsible for frying my trunk (deformed the external heat shield, melted down my toolkit, etc). I suspect the side crack/leak was responsible for melting my lower valance.
