I was cruising the downtown streets of Atlanta yesterday and was just mindin my own business when this guy pulled up next to me in his tricked out civic... (rims, exhaust body kit etc) he started asking me about my car and stuff like that like how many HP it has and how nice it drives... this goes on for about 3 or 4 traffic lights, and he finally asks me if I'd take him for a ride... i thought about it for a second, and was feeling particularly generous, so he parked his car and he got inside... the whole time he couldn't stop sayin "ohhh my God...ohhh my God!" and we hadn't even started moving yet! The next light turned green and i gave 1st gear a bit of gas...and his babblings became louder and louder... then he told me he'd give me $20 to take him onto the interstate... so he pulls out $20 and gives it to me right there... i was glad to take him for a ride of his life (had to give him his money's worth ya know) onto the interstate... took off and hit 110MPH in 3rd gear and he was gettin a bit nervous... but i was keeping it under control...then i went to make my turn around at a clover leaf exit and entrance ramp.. nice thing was that they were a little banked and could take them at about 65mph! this really made him freak out thinkin we were going to fly off the road... and i told him that that wasnt going to happen while i gave it more gas just to show him how well it handles... he couldn't believe he was sitting in an NSX with a 22 year old guy driving it..and him being 21 yrs old... he asked me "how did you learn how to drive like that?" and i really didnt know what to say ...other than atlanta's traffic... i know that it's no professional driving training, but the ppl out there are crazy and it's every man for himself!

just thought I'd share a funny story... happy NSXin you guys! -Electro

Electro,
At the risk of sounding like your mother, I might suggest that for your safety and those around you that you might consider limiting your 110+ mph jaunts to the race track and not the interstates. That $20 won't even come close to the bail required to get your butt out of jail if the Atlanta Police catch you at 110+ out there in the real world.

I have found that sine heading to the track every other weekend or so, that it makes coping with the real world at an almost justifyable sub 100 mph speed almost bearable.

I am glad you had fun out there, but remember, all it takes is a split second mistake out there to change (read as ruin) your life forever. Please be careful. We want to you enjoy your NSX for some time to come.

Charge for rides? What an idea! With the number of times I've given introductions to the NSXperiece for friends and family, I probably could have paid off my car by now!

Seriously, it is a blast to introduce someone to our world...can't deny I've had similar experiences on freeway on ramps (it certainly doesn't take very much time to reach the speed limit in the NSX).

Of course, I'd never trust a stranger in my car.

Well believe me i'm not going around and driving like that very often at all..i've been pulled over in my prelude for doing 100mph in a 55mph zone, and the cop let me go! Now I attribute that to an act of God.... and definitely dont mess around as much as I used to... i really dont have a reason to go over 85mph as that is the general flow of traffic during the hours i'm on the road going to and from work... I've learned my lesson before... got a speeding ticket on the first day i had my car when i was 17... that was the first of many speeding tickets... and I've always paid for each and every one of them too. Although I do appreciate your concern, i may have made it sound like we did 110mph the whole time... but i just accelerated to that speed to show the guy how quickly it can reach those speeds. plus there wasnt anyone around..and I agree, $20 is nowhere near the amount of money or cost of trouble if i got pulled over.. but i'm more than careful when it comes to that... again thanks for the concern!

Hey guys,

I say screw the 110 MPH on the interstate, cuz people do that in rusty SUV's. What about picking up a total stranger! HELLO is it me that just sees picking up a stranger in a exotic car a problem? I mean you know nothing about him, other than his modded civic. Not to sound like a concerned parent or anything but I never give rides to anyone I don't know. I remember an issue of Superstreet mag and in the readers rides this guy had an NSX in there. Then a few months later they had him in there again, but this time it was about his unfortunate death, because someone car jacked him. Shot him and took his car for a joy ride. Made me really think about the kind of people that live in this world. So next time keep that in mind.

REMEMBER my prelude was stolen right out of my driveway...... i know all too much about stolen cars and what not... i take full responsibility for my actions... and the guy was a friggen kid... thats not to say that he wouldnt do something like that....but i trusted him.. oh well if i get car jacked, then thats no big deal to me... I have faith in God and that's all that matters

Faith won't stop a bullet. My buddy was selling his car and was taking this guy for a test ride. The guy pulled a gun and told my friend to hop out. Car was found 10 months later and was destroyed. I've done crazy things like that before and sometimes you can trust strangers. Sounds like a fun way to make $20.

Well i realize there are ppl out there willing to do most anything to get theirs... but it wasnt like i just asked some guy off the street if he wanted a ride... we had a good bit of conversation during the time we were cruising and i knew somehow that it was safe... probably just judging on the guy himself... we started talking about what we did for a living how old we were etc... stuff that your everyday carjacker wouldnt be interested in... and if it was a carjacker, they sure as hell were determined to get my car, so there wouldn't be any stopping him anyways... if someone wants the car bad enough, even if you have an alarm or a gun, they're going to get it even if you dont invite them in... and even if its a matter of killing you. That's just the way that it is driving a really nice car. I thought I was safe living in ultimate suburbia in the northern part of atlanta... a very quiet neighborhood... my house was surrounded with middle aged ppl that had families.. the mothers would stay home during the day to raise the kids while the fathers went out to make the money... typical "all-american" (whatever that means) families filled this neighborhood. I thought my car was safe sitting in the driveway, not 20 feet from where I slept... but no..someone wanted it bad enough to steal it right out from under my nose while I slept... that's pretty bold considering the exhaust i had was not a quiet one and since he tore ass out of the neighborhood he certainly risked waking me up...which i'm very suprised he didnt wake me up.. of course if he did, someone would be either hurt, dead or in jail...or both. So i'm thankful that he didnt wake me up as much as I would have liked to catch the criminal in the act. Later that day my car was found not a half mile away totalled and stripped... my cell phone, the $2,000 stereo system, $2,000 rims, my intake, and about a thousand dollars worth of CD's were taken... suprised they didnt set the thing on fire or break out the windows to finish it off...but it was definitely totalled...

To get to my point, crime can happen anywhere to anyone at any time.. that should be obvious to everyone. It doesnt matter if you have all the bells and whistles, if someone wants something bad enough, they'll get it. of course i'm not going to ask them to take it.. i was just having a friendly conversation with this kid that was driving his civic... not to mention I already had his license plate info b4 he even asked me for a ride... so i'm not just letting anyone into my car... hell no! anyways sorry for the long post...as much as i appreciate your concern, it just seems like alot of you just assume i'm blindly inviting any stranger off the street for a ride...

again, thanks for being concerned about your fellow NSX owner... i just wanted to give you all a better idea of what happened and my observation of the whole scene...

Well shucks... no one PAYS ME for a ride!

And I have to admit, I was following my parents in my dad's nsx and I was so jealous b/c everyone was staring at his car and not mine!

And guys were waving at my mom! How embarassing!
