EV mode range

With that crappy range, they might as well not put in an electric drivetrain

But then the car would have neither torque-vectoring front motors, nor toque-fill at the rear for turbo lag and gear shifts... I get the feeling that EV mode range wasn't a consideration at all for Honda. Having a little bit of silent running to pull in/out of the neighborhood is simply a nice perk from the batteries that are there for other reasons.

I reckon they couldn't been seen to be upstaged by Porsche and Mclaren and so jumped on the bandwagon.

The emissions and mpg of the Laferrari are no better than any other 6 litre V12 because the electric motor permanently augments the engine's power output. The two units respond as one all the time and so their drive is inseparable. I suspect it was the easiest way to quickly develop a hybrid drive and save face against the others.
