Hi everyone! I have some questions regarding on wiring harness on my 92 theft recovered NSX. My X has been in my mechanic shop for the past 2 months waiting for the correct wiring harness. Please HELP!!!

My NSX is still at Hill Top Auto Service and Don said the wiring harness that I got with the car has one connector that doesn't fit, connector # C532. Then I purchased a wiring harness from Ravi from Seattle who claimed the harness is from a 92 NSX with 5-spd.

I got the harness a few days ago and my mechanic told me the wiring harness that Ravi sold me is exactly the same as the one that I have on the car, which C532 conector doesn't fit. The male connector is from the wiring harness, and the female side goes all to the driver side door jam and to the dash.

I have taken a few pictures and posted here:

Would you be able to tell me what is wrong? And what do I need?

I know Andrie (red NSX) and he also has a 92 NSX which has the same female connector as on my car. His C532 male connector has 4 wires coming in and also 4 wires coming out from the female side.
Mine got a big square shape male connector with 11 wires, which doesn't plug onto my female connector with 4 wires coming out.

Please help!!!

Thanks,

Hancock

I am assuming you have the electrical manual for car.. If not, you should get one. The answers are in there..

But I looked up my 91 electrical book and the only connector with 14 cavities (as in your picture) near the engine is C101 for an automatic. That particular connector C101 also comes with 8 cavities (as in your picture too) if it's a 5 speed and 14 cavities if it's an automatic. So what you are seeing there is an automatic engine harness and/or chassis harness (can't really tell but you can).

For an automatic, C101 runs the signals for the Fan Coolant Temp Sensor and transmission. For a 5-speed, it runs the sensor and backup light.

And C532 has 6 cavities and it's for the emission control box towards the left rear of the engine bay.

I think you are mistakening the C101 connector for the C532. So it's safe to say that you got the wrong harness for C101 if you got a 8 cavities plug on one end and 14 cavities on the other. The 6 cavities plug C532 should plug nicely into the emission control box.

Thanks for your info!!!

Eddy:
Thanks for your info and help!!! I just talked to Don today and he said the emission control box has 3 connectors that plugs in from the engine wiring harness.
All other connectors plug in just fine except for the connectors that plugs in underneath the fuse box. The small connector plugs in just fine, but the big connector, and it is either a C532 or C101 (as you said) has different male connector which has 11 wires so it won't plug into the female 6 cavities connector with 4 wires coming out. Don said this connector plugs into the wiring that goes underneath the driver side door jam all the way to the dash. Right now my car gauages do not work, also the check engine light is on. So it is pretty much like all the gauges do not communicate with the wiring harness signal. Also, the engine bay cooling fan does not plugs onto the wiring harness connector as well as they have different size connector.

Please let me know if you have more info!

Thanks,

Hancock

You are still confused or your friend Don is still confused about the connectors. The 11 cavity connector is C101(auto), not C532. Also, the connector with 4 wires in it is also C101(5speed) and it has 8 cavities, not 6 cavities you keep mentioning; go into the car, look at it carefully and count it. It's 8, not 6. Even your pictures shows 8 cavities and not 6.

The engine bay fan is on the otherside of the engine, you should deal with the problem on the left first.

I am not sure why your gauge doesn't work since there can be a lot of reasons for it not working but I would check power/ground and fuses first.

Which means...

Eddy:
Thank you very much for your time and effort to help out! What you mean is that the wiring harness that I originally had and the one I bought from Ravi are both from automatic NSX?

If so, I would have to return the harness set to Ravi because I stated that I need a 5-spd harness, not auto.

Do you know if I can just adapt the same color wires to make it work? Where do those 4 wires go to and what are they for?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Hancock

Get things cleared up!

I just want everyone to know that Ravi is a really nice person. As soon as he knew about the wrong connector he has been really helpful to us. The conclusion is that the wiring harness that Ravi sent to me does not fit onto my car but he never meant to dishonest to me. And Ravi helps us to verify the problem. I really want to appreciate his help!

I am about to ship Ravi back the incorrect harness and he agrees to send me back a correct harness, with the right connector. No questions asked! Ravi is a nice guy to do business with and I recommand him to everyone who needs NSX parts as well as technical help!

Hope this clears up!

Thanks,

Hancock
