Engine Rod and Main Bearings

My 2005 NSX 3.2L motor with 69k miles just developed a slight knock. We took it apart and found a bad rod bearing. It can be fixed if the crankshaft journal is cut by .010 undersize. Unfortunately, I cannot locate anything other than stock size bearings. Does anyone know where I might find undersize bearings, or have any other repair suggestions? Do the NSX and 3.2 TL both have the same size bearing journals? (If so, maybe undersize TL bearings are available).

Thanks for any assistance!

Chris

I think the FactorX folks and/or Driving Ambition use custom cranks with Chevy-size journals in order to have a selection of different bearing sizes. However, I think grinding the stock crank to fit larger bearings is generally disfavored by the engine gurus here on Prime. Nevertheless, I think there may be a color-coded bearing set available. I'm sure someone will post here with more info.

Give Shad a call at Driving Ambition. He said there are some Honda options that cross over for the 3.2L crank and he might be able to help you. 916-861-0032

If you are unable to repair the engine I have a 2004 3.2 short block for sale with only 9600 miles on it. Send a PM for more info.

Surprise to hear that you have a rod bearing problem at this mileage... Did you run the engine with extremely low oil?
